Parada do Orgulho LGBTQIAPN+ de Belo Horizonte

The Parada do Orgulho LGBTQIAPN+ de Belo Horizonte is the biggest LGBTQ+ street event in Minas Gerais and one of the largest in Brazil outside São Paulo. It is organised by CELLOS-MG, the Centro de Luta pela Livre Orientação Sexual, which marked its 25th anniversary in 2026, and the parade keeps a clearly political edge: every edition has a slogan aimed at rights, violence against trans people or elections. People come in from across the state and from neighbouring ones, so for many it is the one day a year they are out in a big crowd.

The format is Brazilian through and through. The crowd gathers in the afternoon at the junction of Avenida Afonso Pena and Avenida Brasil, by Praça Tiradentes, and in the early evening the trios elétricos, the huge sound trucks with DJs, drag performers and singers on top, roll down Afonso Pena towards Praça Sete in the centre, with dispersal around 9pm. Everything on the street is free. In earlier years the concentration point was Praça da Estação, so check the route each year. The week before brings related events, including a Marcha de Mulheridades and the Prêmio Anyky Lima, named after the trans activist.
