Bar Ocidente is an old-school alternative bar on Avenida Osvaldo Aranha in Bom Fim, across from Parque da Redenção. It is a mainstream venue, not a gay bar, but it has long drawn artists, students and plenty of LGBTQ+ locals, and many of its parties are known for mixed, queer-friendly crowds. It opens in the evening from Tuesday to Friday and from mid-afternoon at weekends, with Friday and Saturday running until 3am. The night parties change from week to week, so check the programme before you go. The bar has a 4.5 Google rating from about 1,800 reviews, and prices are moderate.

A place this size that hosts parties with two dance floors and they fall short at the very least in terms of staff at the bar and cashier! I spent over 30 minutes just buying tokens and then more time at the bar to get drinks, in addition to having few options for spirits like Beats, the drinks are expensive and bad. The air conditioning is another story, right? They leave most of the A/C off when the dance floors are full, making it unbearable to stay on the dance floor for very long. Years in business and they can't even do this for the customers of the place that's always packed.
