Bunker

Bunker is Porto Alegre's primary gay nightclub and the dance floor option for the city's LGBTQ+ community. Located in Cidade Baixa, the club operates primarily on Friday and Saturday nights and provides the clubbing experience that the neighbourhood's bars — however excellent — cannot: a proper sound system, resident DJs who build through the night, drag performance programming, and the concentrated physical energy of a crowd that has come specifically to dance. The music policy covers the range of Brazilian and international gay club formats — pop, funk carioca, house, and electronic — with the Gaúcho twist that even a nightclub in Porto Alegre maintains a certain warmth and social accessibility that distinguishes southern Brazilian nightlife from the more anonymous mega-clubs of São Paulo. Bunker runs regular themed events: underwear nights, carnival pre-parties, Pride week programming, and seasonal events that mark the Porto Alegre LGBTQ+ calendar. The venue is the right destination for the later portion of a Cidade Baixa evening — beginning at Bar Ocidente or Resto Bar and finishing at Bunker is the natural Porto Alegre LGBTQ+ night-out progression.
