This hotel gave a master class in customer service and comfort: The front desk clerk/concierge welcomed me immediately and remained my primary point-of-contact throughout my stay. The hotel owner immediately met me at the front desk to personally welcome me to his hotel – and personally thanked me for staying as I departed. The ‘concierge’ took his time giving me a full tour, list of amenities, and history of the hotel – before I even went to my room (which was ready for me upon arrival, and where my bags were delivered as I arrived!). The in-hotel restaurant had been thoroughly briefed on my dietary restrictions before my arrival and accommodated me proactively and consistently throughout my stay. I placed a dinner order one day that I didn’t realize conflicted with my restrictions, and restaurant staff caught it immediately and worked with me to place an appropriate (and delicious) alternate order. The hotel provided currency exchange services. This was super helpful to me as I didn’t bring enough Brazilian currency. The hotel was beautiful: authentic Brazilian/historic; beautiful pool; heavenly rooftop space; a breakfast area complete with adjacent trees, birds, and the relaxing sounds of soft rain on the fabric awning every morning; a lobby with windows that were often opened up to the high-energy and heartwarming sounds of the Pelourinho neighborhood in Salvador; and a comfortable, well-equipped guest room that felt like my own, private condo. I will long cherish this experience and I'm thankful to @astoundtravel (Renea Feagin) and @audleytravel for selecting and including this hotel in my itinerary. Highly recommend!
The Deluxe room was charming with a touch of modern comfort with a nice view over the Bay. The hotel is extremely well located (walkable distance to a lot of tourist attractions such as Casa do Benin, Carnaval Museum etc. ) The Staff were absolutely lovely and attentive. We met the owners Giles and Didier who gave us the warmest welcome and a lot informative tips and cultural facts about Salvador and the premises…which mainly contributed in making our stay memorable! Totally recommend
The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable, which was the highlight. The double-glazed windows helped a lot, considering the noise in the area. Adequate cleanliness. Small but pleasant pool. Good location for exploring the historic area on foot, but difficult access by car, less suitable for those with children or reduced mobility. The staff is the highlight: extremely attentive, professional and genuinely concerned about the well-being of the guests. I would return without hesitation to wherever these professionals were. The breakfast is disappointing: little variety, weak bread, they mention a bread basket with toast (they are packaged toasts) and an offer that does not match either the price or the local quality. Suggestion for the room: replace the plastic bottle with a reusable glass one, since the water is filtered. Decoration with some interesting details. Overall, the quality-price ratio is not the best; for the price we paid, there are other options with better quality. We were somewhat misled by the high TripAdvisor ratings, which place it first among hotels in Salvador, raising expectations very high. It's not a place I would return to, as there are better options for the same price.
Fantastic stay at Casa Amarelindo in the heart of Pelourinho. A very warm welcome with a special mention for Israel 🙏
Impeccable service, a small boutique hotel with tasteful decor and pleasant common areas. Spacious and very comfortably equipped rooms, incredibly comfortable beds and pillows, and an unbeatable breakfast. Highly recommended.
I was fortunate to procure a reservation in this well appointed and well taken care lodging. There is always an all around difference in quality and service when the owners are on the premises as is the case in this establishment. They have done a well thought out rebuild from scratch, which includes a small elevator that is a blessing in disguise. My room was spacious, comfortable and quiet thanks to the double set of windows the owners had the foresight to install. Pelourinho seems to be an impromptu of live music which on weekends can go quite late, but I hardly heard it from my room which was facing a busy pedestrian venue. There is a restaurant on the premises that serves lunch and dinner which is a big plus. The night I arrived I had a refreshing shrimp and fruit salad followed by a competent grilled fish. I cannot rave enough about their open terrace on the top floor with a magnificent water view. It should be mentioned more often to guests as an alternative to wind down at the end of the day. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendlier, from meeting me at Terraio de Jesus to help me carry my luggage to the hotel to placing me inside a taxi upon check out. If there was one small blemish during my three night stay was the included breakfast which started with a basket of stale bread, and went downhill after that but that only made me aware how hard it must be to run an all around five star 24/7.
