About this place Don Raúl

Don Raúl is a simple mainstream hotel at Caracoles 130 on the main pedestrian street of San Pedro de Atacama. It is not a gay venue. Rooms are basic adobe-style, typical of the town, and Google reviewers rate it 4.2 from over 900 reviews. Being on Caracoles puts tour agencies, restaurants and the plaza right outside, which helps with the early starts for the El Tatio geysers and the salt flats. Nights in the desert get very cold, so check heating before booking, and expect the town's water and power to be limited at times.

It was the best hotel we stayed at in SPA. It has an amazing breakfast, the hotel restaurant is one of the best in the city, the room is very clean, the shower is excellent, the wifi is good and, overall, it's very comfortable. The staff are kind, helpful and attentive. The location is excellent, on Calle Caracoles, but without any noise problems from the street.

I highly recommend it. It's located on the main street (Caracoles), which made our stay much easier. The hotel is pleasant and has a very good structure. The mattress is very comfortable. The bed linens and towels are of good quality. The rooms are cleaned daily. Everyone on the staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is complete and delicious. If you need Wi-Fi, choose a room near the reception. The hotel restaurant, although a bit pricey, is also very good.

★☆☆☆☆

The room was full of sewer smell, very unstable WiFi and hot water, no breakfast box provided as other hotels or hostels do if you’re departing before 5AM, the hotel is next to the Main Street but the completely opposite side of where tours will drop you off (so expecting a min of 10mins walking after very tiring tours). Overall, totally not worth the money, you can find way better hotels in lower prices in this area!
