The only positive point is the location, 100 meters from a metro station and 350 meters from the Bell Centre for hockey fans. Otherwise, the rooms are small, the bedding is completely outdated, the service and welcome are far from Quebec standards, the breakfast is mediocre (thankfully affordable), and the stairs are tiny, making carrying luggage very difficult. One small detail: the private bathroom means it's at the end of the hall... great for using the toilet. In short, we won't be returning to this hotel.
Absolutely do not stay here. Management is the worst I've seen from any hotel in my life. I arrived between 2-4 to drop off my bags, as their message said I could. The building was locked, with no staff. After calling the contact number multiple times, I was told "check in is at 4, what do you expect us to do"? I don't know, maybe read the message you send guests? It was also the coldest weekend of the year, and we were stuck freezing outside Once finally inside the room itself, it was dirty and disorganized. Bras and dirty towels in the drawers, the TV didn't work properly, etc. The next morning, we awoke to another guest yelling. Her car was stolen from the parking lot. The manager supposedly tried to gaslight the victim, blaming them for their unsafe lot. The next evening, the power went out in our unit (other units at separate addresses were fine, just 1399 was without power). The emergency line went unanswered for over 30 minutes. Some emergency line. Finally, the manager spoke with my fiance and once told we had to go to another hotel, we were promised a full refund. Two days later, Expedia told us that the hotel would not refund us. Apparently, they were willing to give free parking (for a car we didn't bring, and if we did, would probably be stolen), and breakfast that we didn't eat because we left to a place with power. Will never stay here again, would not recommend to anyone, and now will have to dispute charges with my CC company. Edit: Hotel has reached out gaslighting us, claiming that us being upset at their unscrupulous tactics is harassment. Just like they did to the woman who's car was stolen. Of course I'm upset that you lied about refunding us, why wouldn't I be? Took them three months to reply here. Notice the trend of management being terrible liars littered throughout the comments. Tells you everything you need to know. Screenshots attached to show some of their lies.
I loved my experience; the room was in excellent condition, clean, and cozy. There were no problems whatsoever, the reception staff were very friendly, and they were able to accommodate our earlier arrival than usual. Parking is also affordable and very convenient. I also recommend the breakfast; the eggs Benedict were delicious.
It looks like this place is very nice and I was keen on trying them out, but after my discussion with the incredibly rude manager I will never book again. I had booked and then cancelled through Expedia within the cancellation window. The cancellation was confirmed on Expedia, so I thought it was taken care of. A few months later, I noticed a charge for the full amount on my credit card. I wasn’t looking for this before as I thought it was resolved. When I finally noticed it, I called the hotel and was told the manager would call me back the next day. Two days past and no call. When I finally got in touch with the manager, I was obviously annoyed, as I not only had been charged but also paid two months of interest. I was asked quite rudely why I thought that the my interest payment had anything to do with being charged, that mistakes happen, and the hotel isn’t responsible to pay the interest on a card that they never reimbursed. I wax obviously chocked. I explained that yes, mistakes happen, but I shouldn’t have to pay for the hotel’s mistake. The lack of customer service is truly shocking.
Everything came as advertised, charming, warm, well equipped. No surprises with extra charges (parking and breakfast) as those are clearly reflected on the website. What isn’t reflected on the website is that the comfort suite doubles are on the ground level, meaning basement. There is enough natural light and the suites are cozy, but unfortunately there are some extraordinarily heavy footed people in this world, and two separate groups of them stayed above us for our three night stay. The charming old building has not had any soundproofing done, and every footstep above sounds like they will come through the ceiling at any moment. Chairs dragging across the hardwood floors, hard hat time, and when the sofa bed was folded up and put away ( I cannot imagine what else would cause our windows to rattle so loudly) I really thought we might need to evacuate. Please mention on your otherwise thorough website that these suites will in all likelihood be noisy. When you do, we will happily return (although we will stay in a top floor suite).
