Staying at the Andaz in Ottawa was a very disappointing experience. It started off bad and never really got any better. Was I welcomed as a Hyatt member - no. I was told anything about the hotel and where anything was - no. When I arrived there was no way to valet the car because of the poor mismanagement of the valet staff and the desire to make groups that were staying at the hotel happy at the expense of everyone else. In all there are 6 slots available in the front for loading/unloading and valet. Also there are 8 more overflow slots. There is no way to double park because it is only a 2 lane road. After circling the block 3 times and not being able to park, I switched places with my spouse and jumped out of the car to go into the lobby. The front desk checked me in and when I explained the issue with valet and unloading my luggage, she walked over to the valet area where 3 valet employees were just standing around and she still could not get the issue resolved. When I informed her that I needed a resolution to the problem, she went back to the valets and there resolution was that I should park in a public pay lot and either leave the luggage in the car or haul it from the lot to the hotel if I wanted it that badly. At that point, I really felt like world of Hyatt members are valued at all. After an hour of dealing with the issue and parking on the street I went up to one of the valets and they were able to clear a spot for me. And the cars that were blocking the front that entire time were still there. I can’t really blame the valets since the valet manager was there and did nothing to address the lack of professionalism and total disregard for hotel guest. After getting into the room, I had to go back downstairs because I had not been given the wifi password and I could not access chromecast. It was so late I didn’t resolve the chromecast issue until the next day. For some reason this hotel is unlike any other Hyatt that I have been in. There is no landing screen or Home Screen. Somehow the guest are supposed to know that to get chromecast you have to change the tv over to hdmi 1 wait about 30 seconds and then the launch page comes up. Even after setting chromecast it was spotty, it would freeze, close out and restart on its on. It really surprised me that I could hear the noises from the street even though I was on the 11th floor. Only by checking with the front desk the next morning did I find out the water I. The fridge and the chips on the counter were complementary. I knew the used coaster that was left on the counter was complementary. The thermostat could not be set above 72 degrees and even trying to set it at that didn’t matter since the temperature never reached that level, 68 is where it maxed out. And of course if you want a robe, slippers, towels or a blanket you have to request them. I was beginning to wonder who was the guest and who was the employee. I went down to checkout and right after I headed to the lobby the housekeeper walked in on my spouse even though it was only 10 am and the do not disturb sign was up.

We have stayed at this location previously and it was great, however on our most recent stay the parking situation was entirely frustrating. Previously, parking was complimentary which was great. However, during our most recent stay due to construction of the parking garage, it is $48 per day for in / out valet parking, or alternatively there are public lots available (which hike their prices during events). To transfer construction costs onto guests so blatantly was so disappointing. Additionally, we were not made aware of said construction when we booked our room. Upon check-in ear plugs were provided on our nightstands for the construction noise. Overall, very poor care is taken for guests during construction. Incredibly disappointing as our previous stays were so good.

Very nice hotel, clean, cozy, modern. Rooms are spacious and well decorated with a minimalist vibe. The rooftop terrasse is great - the views are worth it! Drinks over there a very pricey, but it's worth having one and enjoy the view. The gym is pretty small a bit disappointing. The lobby restaurant only opens at 7, which might not be convenient for early morning people. No pool unfortunately. Overall a great stay. I'd recommend and I would stay here again.

Great location and beautiful 4-star aesthetics, but it lacks the comfort and functionality to match. We booked the double queen room, which felt much more cramped than the online photos suggested. It feels like you're paying for the interior style and fancy Byredo toiletries rather than a seamless stay. Our 4th-floor room was quite noisy from the street, the bathroom lacked ventilation, and the shower control, light control were confusing. Valet is VERY SLOW (we checked out at 10am and messaged for the valet, and waited an hour) and understaffed.
