About this place Anvil

Anvil is Toronto's only dedicated cruising club, a small members-only men's venue in the Church-Wellesley Village. The Church-Wellesley Village business association's directory describes it as a private men's club 'designed for those who value discretion and connection', with private booths, a dimly lit cinema room, a maze and a lounge. The entrance is from Anvil Alley, the laneway beside 511 Church Street that the City named in 2019 in homage to Dudley's Hardware, the long-serving hardware store next door. Event pages in 2026 advertise leather play parties at 'Anvil Cruising Club, 511 Church Street, down Anvil Alley' with a strict leather dress code and a CA$20 cover, and other gay guides describe a men-only cruising club open Wednesday to Sunday, later on Fridays and Saturdays. There is no website, the club does not publish prices, and the listings do not agree on hours; the Village directory's own hours field is blank. Membership is sold at the door; bring government photo ID (19+). Expect a quiet, cruise-focused room rather than a bar: no alcohol licence is advertised, and the crowd overlaps heavily with the Black Eagle two doors south, which is the best place to ask what is on. As with the bathhouses, it is a legal private venue for adults; no photos inside, and 'no' means no.
