About this place The Broadview Hotel

The Broadview Hotel occupies a striking corner building at Broadview Avenue and Queen Street East, a Victorian commercial building constructed in 1891 that spent most of the twentieth century as a downmarket hotel and was transformed into one of Canada's most celebrated boutique hotels in its 2017 renovation. The hotel is explicitly welcoming of LGBTQ+ guests — the ownership and culture are inclusive in a way that goes beyond corporate policy — and the building's location in Riverside/Leslieville puts it close to some of Toronto's best bars, restaurants, and the streetcar connections that reach the Village in under 15 minutes. The rooftop terrace and bar is one of Toronto's most coveted summer venues, with views across the city skyline and the Don Valley; the ground-floor restaurant is a serious dining destination. The 58 rooms are individually designed and reflect the building's Victorian bones with contemporary fittings. For visitors who want to stay in a genuinely interesting building with a story and a soul, rather than a chain hotel near the Village, the Broadview is the answer.

A fun sunny afternoon on the rooftop patio of the Broadview hotel during happy hour. The Margarita's were delicious. Our group of 4 shared the calamari , the truffle fries and the mushroom dumplings and everything was very tasty. But the most outstanding part of our experience was our wonderful server, and I am sorry I did not get his name. He was so friendly and attentive! He went to great lengths to move 2 patio umbrellas for us when we were getting too much sun, he was interested in making sure we had the best time!

This is a charming, renovated, older hotel, extremely well located and seemingly well managed. The staff are charming, the rooms are attractive and well laid out, the rooftop restaurant is unusual and very nice. We highly recommend, and the only complaint is complicated bathroom plumbing appliances that require a a Ph.d to figure out.

This is a nicely updated hotel with pleasant amenities close to downtown Toronto. I visited for two nights for a family wedding which was also taking place in the hotel. I liked our room, and the bed was comfortable. But it was unbearably loud. We were given room 201, which is right next to a service stairwell, which itself leads down a short corridor to one of the hotel's event spaces. Not only did the door to the stairwell slam shut literally all day and all night - so loud that it shook the furniture in our room - there was also no sound insulation from noise in the hallway, which included hundreds of guests passing by, talking at full volume, and extremely loud music until 2am. The air conditioner came on every 30 minutes and was as loud as a vacuum cleaner. The windows looked out over a service alleyway, where trucks unload/pick up all day and night. Alarms rang at odd hours. There didn't seem to be sound transfer from above or below but our room had zero sound insulation from the hallway/adjacent stairwell. Perhaps other rooms in this hotel are better ... but I will never stay here again. If you have any concerns about noise, avoid this hotel.

Air conditioner sounds like a hurricane. $30 per hour late checkout fee? What BS.

All was incredible. The front desk girls were kind and welcoming of myself and my pup, and the rooftop restaurant was superb!

We stayed at the Broadview Hotel while we were selling our house. The room was very comfortable and stylish. We loved our stay it was like a boutique NY hotel. Very clean and remarkably quiet considering our room faced Broadview Ave. Highly recommend this hotel.

I am currently, unfortunately, at The Broadview. I was in room 410 for 2 nights, preparing for my 3rd. I grabbed the robe off the bathroom wall and a roach fell out. The cockroach then ran up the wall and into the ceiling. I was moved to a room 1 floor up. If I had literally anywhere else I could go tonight, I would. They offered to comp a bottle of champaign and let me stay an extra hour in the morning. This place has restaurants too.... I can't wait to be at home, and hopefully not bring any Broadview roaches with me 😭 Edit to add: they didn't comp the champagne, but they paid for a dinner I had purchased (prior to knowing about the roaches), and for 2 nights of parking as compensation..... They offered to have a manager call me later, but what's the point if they already decided that makes up for it. Doesn't seem like compensation for roaches, mold in the bathroom and by the wet bar, and unclean surfaces and windows. I could've stayed at a motel 6 and had the same experience, but instead, paid nearly $1700 for equally as bad conditions

My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary with a staycation at the Broadview Hotel and it was amazing! The staff went above and beyond to ensure it was an unforgettable experience. The amenities really set this hotel apart from your typical chain hotel - the record player, the earplugs, the sleep mask, the gourmet snacks, etc. Our perfect Sunday brunch capped off a weekend we’re never going to forget. Highly recommended.

I stayed at this hotel to see a show at History. It is very close - less than 10 minutes by car. The hotel is very nice - a lot of cool detail and character everywhere. The room was stylish and comfortable and even included a record player. The staff were also great, very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend.
