I can't understand why there are any 5 star reviews here. We booked an event here and then had to cancel. We are a small business and Mount Alverno owes us THOUSANDS of dollars. They are no longer answering our calls or emails. Do NOT give them any monel and please don't stay here. I don't want this to happen to others. It's been awful.

The staff are pleasant and accommodating, no issues there but for the price and the word luxury, I was expecting more. I booked online and when I arrived there was some kind of mix up with my room. Even though I had booked a standard room with King bed or two queens which I showed them, I was apparently only slotted to get a one queen bed room which was unacceptable to me. They then proceeded to ‘upgrade’ me for free so I had a king size bed. WTH! I had had this booked for a month yet no communication about any concerns although they did try to say that somebody had been trying to get hold of me. They had not. No calls, no texts, no emails. Once in our room, we then had no heat and it was during our deep freeze so we had to pack up so they could move us around again. The rooms are nice enough but no cable for tv so you can’t get just basic info or channels for news , weather etc. You can use stream like Prime or Netflix if you can figure it out. It’s not easy and there are no instructions for anything in the room so again, you have to rely on staff to help you out. Even with streaming, you can’t log into your own account, you have to use somebody else’s. Lastly, after spending the day at an event off property and coming back late, our room hadn’t been cleaned nor replenished. Again, back downstairs, it was way too late for cleaning our room but had to ask for toilet paper, coffee replacements etc, which was disappointing. For a small beautiful looking intimate hotel, I found the experience lacking for the price point.

I am a former employee of the mount. I opened the restaurant up with the head chef and the sous chef and all was well. Great chef and sous chef i love them, one of the best people i have worked with and apprecaite everything they have taught me . I went on mat leave in 2022, i had problems with them sending my record of employment so I could collect my mat leave. After that it took a while to get my t4. I went to return to work a year later in Dec 2023 they had hired a bunch of new kitchen staff (Indian) signed on contracts so they could live in the country. I was asking for 30 hours a week, they gave me 12-16 hours a week and told me they had to be fair to the other even though I was their very first employee in the kitchen that they hired and had 3 years senority on the rest of the kitchen staff. I told them i was pregnant and they then reduced my hours further to 6-10 hours a week forcing me to get another job so I could get my hours for mat leave once again. Once again I had problems getting my t4 from them and record of employement, this year I am having the same issue again. The owners christopher and management paula are extremely rude and ignorant, they do not reply to any of my message or calls. They act like they are the king of the world and you are slaves. The first two years with this company were great, when it was just a small kitchen staff of 3 or 4 people, great reviews, great atmosphere , great team, as the 3rd year approached things changed. I had to call the labour board on them due to the fact they were not willing to give me my hours I asked for, further more called christopher and Paula to ask for my t4 multiple times. Only when I threatened to take them to the labour board or court for withholding tax information did christopher reply to me. If you want overpriced food cooked by unqualified people who do not have their health and safety or their food handlers certificate this is the place to go! Also they have not been paying their current employees and when they do it takes months for them to do so and their cheques bounce due to their insufficient funds in their accounts! People have walked off the job because they are not being paid for months and months of work! This is not the place to go for anything at all! You can do much better at a motel. Save your money and go to a motel and buy your breakfast.

We had our Christmas party 🥳 in the restaurant. By far the best meal I have ever experienced 😋. Cooked to perfection. Our host Chris was such a gentleman 👏. Would recommend it highly. Thanks 😊.

I was at Mount Alverno for a meeting. The venue is absolutely beautiful. The food was delicious and the service was top notch. What a great experience!
