Boynton Beach sits on the coast of Palm Beach County, about 15 minutes south of Lake Worth Beach and 30 minutes south of West Palm Beach. For gay nightlife, you'll drive north. West Palm Beach has H.G. Rooster's, the county's long-running gay bar, a local institution for decades. Lake Worth Beach's downtown is famously artsy and inclusive, and it's the heart of county Pride. If you're looking for a bigger night out, Fort Lauderdale and its gayborhood in Wilton Manors (Wilton Drive) are roughly 45 minutes to an hour south. Wilton Drive has one of the densest collections of gay bars in the U.S. Boynton Beach works best as a quiet, affordable home base, not the place you go out in.

Palm Beach County's main LGBTQ+ hub is Compass Community Center in Lake Worth Beach. Oceanfront Park Beach, off Ocean Avenue, is the city's main public beach. It's clean, family-oriented, and pleasant for a relaxed day, though it isn't a designated gay beach. The nearest well-known clothing-optional and gay-popular beach stretches are far to the south in the Miami area. In Palm Beach County, beach days are simply casual and come-as-you-are.

Brightline's high-speed rail connects West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami if you'd rather not drive between the county's scenes.
