via Stay22About this place Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront
The Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront is a good hotel for anyone who likes a view of the river and doesn't mind a little corporate polish.
You'll find it on Upper Wacker Drive, right on the Chicago River, which means plenty of those classic Chicago skyline views. The hotel itself is one of those places that aims for "European sophistication" but really just means a clean, modern design. It's a solid, predictable option for downtown Chicago.
Being on Upper Wacker puts you within shouting distance of the usual tourist spots: museums, Michigan Avenue shopping, and Millennium Park. Handy if you're in town for a quick visit and want everything nearby.
This isn't a place that's trying to be edgy or cool; it's a comfortable, upscale downtown hotel. It works if you're here for business, or just want a reliable base to hit the major sights.
The best part is definitely the river. You're right there, which is ideal for appreciating the city’s architecture. Check their website for rates and what's available when you're thinking of going.

Called multiple times about my reservation, got told I needed to talk to manager . Left 2 voicemails for manager and still have not received a call or anything back
The view is breathtaking.
My first time in Chicago and a great stay. perfect location and great staff. was able to check in my room two hours earlier. staff was always accommodating. walkable to everything (the bean, shopping, boat tour, etc) the only downside is the bathroom shower door. overall 10/10 will definitely stay again!
Kass checked me in and everything was wonderful. I had a great experience. I will definitely return to this location.
Our stay was “ok” overall. While the rooms were nice, we had repeated service issues, including: - Not having the two rooms we booked in their system when we arrived & we had to wait an extra 2 hours for them to prepare the 2nd room - They could not provide bedding for the fold-out sofa when we asked (they had none available & did not stock sheets in the room!) - It took over an hour to receive water bottles when ordered and when they did arrive, the employee shoved them into my hands & was extremely rude - We were told that “breakfast will be served” in the morning, but were not told it was a sit-down restaurant - we were led to believe it was complimentary. - No room service! The phones had a clearly labeled button for “In Room Dining,” but were told we had to physically come down to the restaurant to order food & take it back to our room. And of course the order was messed up & we had to wait an additional 30 mins for it to be corrected - without any compensation for the error. - The restaurant (Hoyt) also told us they could not accommodate to-go coffees, even though we knew they had coffee & to-go cups fully available. - We asked for a water bottle to go on our way out to an event, and were told “no.” Even though they can deliver them to our rooms (???) Overall, it seems like the Royal Sonesta is concerned first and foremost with their own “rules” and not with customer satisfaction. All these “little things” added up, leading to our decision that we will not be staying at any Royal Sonesta hotel in any city again.
The rooms are great , spacious and beautiful!! But the service is HORRIBLE . Kass and Vicky were wonderful and made my stay great. Jarod or the lady manager not so much . so if I needed any help I went to Kass or Vicky you 2 were great thanks so much!
