Oak & Reel offers an inclusive and welcoming dining experience in Detroit. Since opening in September 2020, it has become a popular spot for enjoying a variety of meals, from happy hours to full dinners. Visitors consistently praise the phenomenal food, highlighting unique and flavorful dishes. The trout has even been a hit with toddlers, and specific recommendations include the Brussels sprouts and bucatini. The attentive staff and management are frequently mentioned for their exceptional service, making guests feel like the only table in the house. The team is known for being on top of everything, respecting guest timing, and providing a warm atmosphere. Since Oak & Reel opened in September 2020, my husband and I have enjoyed numerous dinners, wine dinners, Culinary Collective dinners, happy hours, and drinks at The Upright. While I could write a lengthy ode to this restaurant, I will highlight what keeps us always planning our next visit before we even finish the current meal. The staff is amazing--attentive, fun, thoughtful, highly knowledgeable, and always focused on making the evening special. Indisputably, the food is exceptional--the seasonal menus are unique and creative, offering flavor combinations and techniques I could never replicate at home. I have had three dishes (swordfish, duck, and octopus) over the years that I still dream about. Everything is presented so beautifully, and I would include images, but the aroma pulls me in as soon as the plates hit the table, and I completely forget to take pictures. At Oak & Reel, we have celebrated special occasions, brought family, dined before and after shows. But most recently we dropped in on a Wednesday because work was crap and we didn't want to cook. We split two appetizers, a pasta, and an entree from their French menu (such a fun change!) and left feeling infinitely better than when we entered. Oak & Reel never, ever disappoints.

Every dish we had was absolutely delicious. Even our toddler loved the trout! The staff was so attentive and made you feel like you were the only table there. Extra bonus that they have their own parking lot with plenty of spots!

The service was awesome, Destiny was so nice and on top of everything. The food was very salty. Our pasta came out fast but I would have like it a little warmer and with more sauce. Maybe it was an off night but I will be back.

We arrived early prior to another engagement, they were respectful of our timing. Food was phenomenal, we loved the new French menu for the month. Server Amanda and the manager were on top of everything.

First time visiting and I’m already looking forward to coming back. The food was excellent, especially the Brussels sprouts and the bucatini, which were both full of flavor and definitely worth ordering. The service was friendly, and the whole place had a great atmosphere that made the meal even better. Everything from the staff to the environment felt welcoming and enjoyable. I’d happily recommend this spot to anyone looking for a delicious and relaxing dining experience.
