Baymont by Wyndham Ferndale/Royal Oak

Within walking distance of downtown. Have bonfire pits in the midle of the parking lot. And the rooms are clean with a friendly staff.

Walking distance to food, drinks, hangouts, etc. The rooms were clean, but no one ever came in to tidy, change towels, restock toilet paper, etc. for our 4 day stay. Super fun atmosphere and the rooms are spacious. The only downside was the bathroom. There are no hooks or bars to hang towels, and very limited counter space for toiletries. Even a few command hooks in there would be helpful. I would stay there again if visiting in the future.

Awesome Town

Stayed at Hotel Royal Oak and absolutely loved it. The vinyl room, bar, and lounge areas give the hotel such a cool atmosphere and really make it stand out. The staff were amazing from start to finish, and the owners are genuinely awesome people who clearly care about the experience they provide. The rooms were also extremely clean and comfortable. Definitely one of the best places to stay in the area — highly recommend!

**Editing to add that I called corporate to file a complaint against said employee. Please be careful if you choose to stay here. Most of the people were kind, but as always, watch your back, and step in for others if you think they need help. 💯 We gotta have each other's backs. The man at the check-in desk was very rude to a very nice woman. He even cat called her and insinuated they slip into one of the rooms. I stepped up at that point. She had said no and ignored him about it plenty by now and he wouldn't help her or stop trying to pick her up, so I stepped up and told him that what he was doing was assault and told him to just do what the girl asked and apologized, I wouldn't call the cops regardless of what she wanted to about it since he didn't actually touch her, but had it progressed, I would have. She thanked me and we chatted a bit longer before going to our rooms. The rest of the stay was fine and the next morning the staff was lovely. I mean, it's not a grand hotel, but it's a place to lay your head when you need to. It's safe, clean, and affordable. Take it for what you will. I'd return, no problem, if I needed to.

dont stay here !! very cheap only for sleep , i got it one time and it was horrible , kids loud all at night , water dont get hot , no microwave . no kitchen , holes inna wall , yhe building was just like a jail cell !!! do not book like seriously

I dropped two friends off at Hotel Royal Oak; I never entered the hotel room, myself. My friends told me they were very happy with their room, that It was clean, well maintained, quiet and economical. It's also located very close to a lot of good restaurants. We chose to dine at KAL'S (Mediterranean cuisine) which is walking distance, only .3 miles, from the motel. KAL'S is located inside a big market, and only has a few tables. You order your food at a window, and you pick it up at the same window. (No servers). The food was very good.

The worst hotel in my life the front desk was janky the floors were half ass done and lifted up. The ceiling boards weren’t properly installed. The bathrooms were disgustingly dirty, the sheets were not clean , the coaches were dirty EVERYTHING WAS JUST DIRTY AND NASTY AND THERE ARE LITERALLY SAFETY HAZARDS EVERYWHERE IDK HOW THIS IS OPEN AND OPERATING LOOK AT THE OTHER REVIEWS

I'll admit to being a little hotel snobby, typically I avoid the Motel scene, but this place is really amazing. it reminds me a little of the Ohio House in Chicago, but updated and way more communal. The rooms are really nice and updated, the staff was super helpful and engaging. And how cool is it that you can check in and order a cocktail at the same time. The communal area has a free pool table room, and another room with records and a record player. Spin your own music while you wait for friends. Outside you also have multiple patio and gas fires. If your around Detroit or Royal Oak, stop by just for a drink, or stay the night

So awesome. Walking distance to downtown Royal Oak. But the hotel itself is amazing. The staff is like hanging out with friends you've known forever. The decor is delightful. There are 2 outdoor areas. Inside areas include a vinyl room and pool table. I would live here if I could but I will just have to visit again soon.
