About this place The Belvedere — Cherry Grove

The Belvedere is a gay men-only hotel and pool club located on Bayview Walk in Cherry Grove, Fire Island's vibrant LGBTQ+ community. Since 1956, it has been a landmark destination for gay travelers seeking an all-male space on this iconic island. The venue combines overnight accommodations with a pool club atmosphere, making it a hub for social gathering and relaxation. Fire Island's Cherry Grove is known as one of the most welcoming and established gay communities in the United States, and staying at a dedicated gay men-only hotel puts you at the heart of that scene. You can expect a social, community-focused environment where other gay male travelers gather. The pool club aspect means you'll find opportunities to meet people, enjoy outdoor spaces, and experience the vibrant social life Fire Island is famous for. This is the kind of venue where the experience extends beyond your room—it's about being part of a larger gay hospitality space. The location on Bayview Walk offers proximity to Cherry Grove's restaurants, bars, and beaches. If you're visiting Fire Island and looking for accommodations specifically designed around gay men's community and social spaces, this is a longstanding option with decades of history in the area. What a great stay. I felt like i was in Europe. Great staff. Clean rooms. Beautifully decorated. Unfortunately the weather didnt help but def relaxed a lot in bed. Perhaps what I need it. Wish the breakfast was better given the cost of the rooms. Also, wish they would put some money to the play room. Otjer than that def would love to sty here again and perhaps experience more of its action.

A Red Roof Inn might be better maintained than this place. I’d say their “no women” rule is outdated and antagonistic, but I don’t think women would stay here even if it was an option. The walls are literally crumbling, moldy smells and peeling wallpaper are common encounters. It’s sad because you can see the promise of something grand, but unfortunately there’s a lack of care that’s seemingly dooming the place to utter dilapidation. Fingers crossed the place gets a facelift and some tlc before it dissolves into the Great South Bay.
