Just go! The owner is the most incredible lady you will ever meet! She cooks for everyone on certain days! My idea of a southern mother! Making sure everyone is ok at all times, fed and watered! The locals- there amazing! Bar staff, best you’ll get!! If you have any problems here, I hate to say it, but your the issue!! If I lived closer I’d go daily! 1 Happy Brit!!
Cat and Mouse is the oldest bar in Huntsville, established in 1969. Walking in knowing you’re stepping into a little piece of history is cool on its own- but once you meet the people there, you realize you want it to become part of your story too. You walk through this little door not really knowing what to expect, and it opens up into a cozy space with a handful of tables and comfortable bar seating. The lighting is just right, and smoking is allowed inside, which honestly adds to that laid-back, old-school feel. Scot, who was bartending, is a kickass dude who makes you feel right at home. As “youngsters” a little out of our comfort zone, he went out of his way to include us- asking about who we were and how we ended up at C&M. He joked, shared stories, jammed to music with us, and made genuinely great drinks at great prices. What an awesome guy. Shelly, the owner, arrived and that was the icing on the cake. She instantly became one of my favorite people. What we thought would be a quick stop turned into a whole night of getting to know the regulars and the genuinely kind people who make C&M the coolest bar in town. We ended up staying until close, and they even walked us out to make sure we got to our car safely. Stopping by Cat & Mouse ended up being my favorite part of the trip. I’ll never forget the kindness we experienced there. It reminded me how far a little spontaneity and openness can go. I meant to write this sooner and totally forgot until recently- so sorry for the late review, but thank you all for such a great experience!
Perfect bar on the edge of nowhere to disappear in. Super nice bartenders and very fair prices. A needed step back in time
