About this place California Hotel

The California Hotel is a solid, no-frills choice for LGBTQ+ visitors to Las Vegas, sitting a six-minute walk from The Mob Museum and just under four miles from the Strip. It puts downtown’s attractions within easy reach, but feels more low-key than the big resorts. Rooms come with flat-screen TVs, minifridges, and Wi-Fi (for a fee). Suites have more room, with separate living areas, dining tables, and wet bars. You’ll find a few different spots to eat here: a steakhouse, an Asian noodle house, a 24-hour cafe, and Hawaiian fast food. There's also a casino if you’re feeling lucky, plus a seasonal rooftop pool for when you need a break from the action. A free shuttle can ferry you around the area, which saves on rideshares. While it’s not an explicitly gay hotel, it’s a smart, budget-friendly option for gay and lesbian travelers. You get comfortable rooms, a good range of food, and easy access to both downtown and the wider Las Vegas scene, all without the sticker shock of the mega-resorts.

The cal is my usual go to, but this time we got put in a room next to the fitness center! Weights dropping and banging, we heard every bit of it…. A/C makes a tapping noise every hour and running toilet and great view of the roof. Also elevators was having an issue during our stay. Resort fee will only get you one bar of soap and one tiny bottle of shampoo and conditioner to cover three guests???? Hotel turning into more profit, less aloha…. Only pro is the refrigerator in room
