Long Beach Pride
About This Event
Long Beach Pride is the big Southern California Pride that happens in May, a few weeks before LA and WeHo, and it has run since 1984, when it started as a small community response to anti-gay violence and the early AIDS crisis.
The free part is the Sunday parade along Ocean Boulevard, from Lindero Avenue west to Alamitos Avenue, with the beach on one side and the Alamitos Beach and Bluff Park neighbourhoods on the other. The paid part is the weekend festival on Marina Green Park, which official listings put at $40 in 2026. One independent guide reported the Marina Green festival did not return, and we couldn't confirm which version is right, so check longbeachpride.com before buying. Friday and Saturday nights belong to the bars on East Broadway, the gay strip a short walk inland.
Visit Long Beach puts attendance at over 80,000. Sun is the issue more than heat in mid-May; bring water and sunscreen for the parade.
The 2026 edition ran 15 to 17 May with Teen Pride on the Friday and the parade on Sunday 17 May under the theme Fearless and Free. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.
