What reviewers say

Visitors praise the Governor's Mansion Inn for its historic charm, excellent location, and comfortable beds, with many enjoying the renovated bathrooms. However, some guests find the "remote" check-in process impersonal and feel the branding as a boutique hotel doesn't match their experience, with a few mentioning small room sizes.

What a great place! It’s close to everything right on the lake extremely comfortable great continental breakfast… Please don’t miss out on the bagels. Highly recommend! The owner is also highly knowledgeable about the history of the house and it was a pleasure discussing its past with him

This is my second solo stay here—both during cold March—and I truly recommend this special place. The home has been restored in the warmest way that blends the historical character with modern amenities. A tea and coffee station is available 24 hours a day with a simple breakfast laid out each day. The price is very affordable for such a unique stay and it is perfect for a solo traveler. The location is beautifully overlooking the lake and walkable to the capital, university and many shops and restaurants. I really love this place and will always try to stay here when I return. Rooms have a mini fridge and there is a microwave off of the main breakfast room where guests can warm something up. Note for vegetarian/vegans: I live toward a vegan commitment for many years and this place is mixed in that regard. The simple breakfast is about 70% animal-derived (homemade scones, butter, local cheeses) and 30% animal free (quality locally-made bagels, fruits and GF crackers. That said, there are also fancy thin Oreos out 24/7 with the coffee/tea station and instant oatmeal packets. So while I would love to see vegan scones one day, or plant-based butter, I appreciate the innkeepers’ efforts to support local business and offer a variety of food foods for diverse guests. This is a wonderful place.
