There is no way this hotel deserves 4 stars. I'm not even sure how Wyndham is associated with this property. The room we actually had looked NOTHING like the rooms on the website. It is really a 2 star hotel. There are different buildings and everything depends on which building they place you in. Our building was the one next to the pool. The room was dated and very small. With 2 Queen beds there was barely enough room to put 3 suitcases down, and we had to squeeze between a chair and one of the beds to get to the bathroom. The bathroom has not been renovated in a while, and there is no sink. They tried to add a little kitchen, and because there was not enough room there is only a bar sink (deep and small, with a huge faucet) for the whole room (rather than a sink in the bathroom and a kitchen sink in the kitchen nook). Imagine trying to brush your teeth at the bar sink and banging your face into the huge faucet every time you bend to spit. On top of this, the room was not very clean and when we walked around barefoot we felt grit on the floor (before we had even been to the beach). The evening we arrived we were unable to shower because there was only a trickle of cold water in the tub and the shower head didn't work at all. We called the reception desk (had to use our cell phone because the room phone didn't work) and were told there is nothing they can do. No other rooms with 2 Queen beds available and no maintenance person that could stop by and look at the problem. Imagine going to bed without a shower after a long day in the heat and sand. Someone came the next day while we were out, installed a new shower head and fixed the water pressure. They were courteous on the phone when they provided an update. The repair was satisfactory, just 12 hours late. They did not offer us a partial refund for the inconvenience. We paid over $ 700 for this room (4 days), which is not a good value. Breakfast is not included btw and not available in the lobby. There is a restaurant that seems to be attached to the hotel where you can buy breakfast. We ended up going to Darrell's Restaurant down the street, which was great. The beds were not ideal either. They do not use fitted sheets, so the sheets came untucked all the way overnight. They also do not offer a variety of pillows, only two per Queen bed. Both pillows are the same, relatively thick, which hurt my neck. Most hotels provide a choice of pillows, so 4 per Queen or King bed, with 2 firm/ thick ones and 2 soft/ thin ones. The pool was closed for the entirety of our stay. It was unclear why. You would think that they would give us a heads up of this problem, but nothing. You can imagine the disappointment of our kid to not be able to use the pool at all. We had a terrible experience at this hotel and I would not recommend to anyone to stay here. Other members of our family stayed at this hotel as well (in a different building) and reported the same experience- dirty rooms, small, looks nothing like the pictures on the website.
Not sure how this is considered a 4 stsr hotel. It is more of a motel. Very small rooms. Rough looking area and outside. Checked in, saw the rooms and checked out to go to a nicer location
Great spot on Roanoke Island. Room was large & CLEAN!!! Restaurant on-site. Will definitely be back.
Dirty. Dog scratches on door. Couch looked like something you would find on the side of the road.
Enjoyed my stay in Manteo. It was quiet and peaceful and close by to the beaches. The rooms were ok except the moisture in the room was weird. I would wake up sticky like I’ve been sweating but I know i wasn’t and a lot of my clothes were damp. Stay was cut short for some reason. Never heard from management about whatever the issue was but I didn’t let that stop my shine. I was able to book an oceanfront view else where on my way home 😃
The location is wonderful but the hotel needs some updating. While our beds were clean and comfy, the floors were terribly dirty. The bottoms of our feet and socks were black after walking around in the room.
Booked via the net…high end suite…when i arrived and looked at the room I immediately said I couldn’t stay in such a shabby dump of a suite (dirty, broken furniture, etc). Desk person said OK, we have been having issues with that building. We will refund your booking charge. I thanked them and left. Next day I see the charge on my card. Called hotel. They said their policy meant there would be no refund. Beware of their online photos and DO NOT pay in advance!!!
