Cafe Lafitte in Exile

Usually pretty good bar but lately been very aggressive and I'm not here for it.

My wife and i called at this bar whilst visiting New Orleans on a cruise. Firstly, we had to wait 5 minutes to be served as the bartender was outside smoking a cigarette. I ordered 2 drinks, a Corona and a diet coke which came to $10. You have to pay by card as they don't take cash. I left a small tip,as the service hadnt been great, and thought no more about it. We sat outside, chatted to another customer who seemed to be a regular and spent a pleasant 30 minutes watching the world go by on Bourbon street. Imagine my suprise when i got home and checked my credit card statement and found i'd been charged $110. Tried to contact the bar but their website is down. I'm not sure why the barman did this, was he disappointed at the small tip? Did he cynically gouge us as tourists who were unlikely to return? Was it because we are a heterosexual couple drinking at a gay bar? Whatever, please avoid this place as the rip people off. If anyone from the bar should read this then please leave contact details in the comments and i'll gladly share more information. By the way, i did report this to the New Orleans chamber of commerce but received no reply.

Bartender was slow and aloof when we asked for an old fashioned. Took him awhile to make it, although it was done right and was good. The place was okay. Only the 1 drink though... its worth a stop. Has a pirate feel to it hence the name.

We came across this bar as we just wanted a drink after walking for a while. So glad we popped in. The service was great. The guy behind the bar made us a drink that i believe its not really drunk much in the US ie Lemon Lime & Bitters. I reckon only Aussies drink it. Anyway he did a great job and was amazing . The atmosphere of this bar was very welcoming. Really enjoyed our short time here, highly recommend this bar.

New Orleans would not be New Orleans without this iconic 24/7? Spot!!!! I truly can’t end the weekend without closing it down with the napkin toss!!! I literally end almost every Sunday funday this way!!! It’s good vibes 💯!!! Love this place and the amazing people who work here!!!

Jordan was a fabulous bartender! Great energy and had great suggestions for other places to go check out. Great spot decently priced drinks.

We love to stop here. Bartenders are always unfailingly wonderful. Nice, low key, vibe. A great place to just sit and sip.

I visited a few weeks ago and I wanted to leave a review for Ricky. He was so sweet and friendly. We had a great time talking to him and I really wish the best for him. Such a sweetie

If I could give this place negative stars I would give them a negative 100 they were thee worst experience in my FIRST TIME NOLA experience; let’s just say I did not feel any kind of southern hospitality in this place!!! RUDE RUDE AND MORE RUDE!! I wouldn’t even recommend this place to my worst enemy!!!! U did not make my NOLA experience anything to brag about!!!! Hands down the worst place in NOLA!! Not friendly @ all!!!! I waited for over 35 mins for ONE drink and I get it; it was Fat Tuesday, however the unfriendly bartender walked past me 4x I literally had to ask the two gentleman in front of me to order my drink with theirs and that was the only way I was even served! SMH yall should b ashamed of yourselves!!! I’ve worked in hospitality for over 20yrs I would NEVER EVER treat any guest the way I was treated!!!! Thank God for others places during my NOLA experience otherwise I wouldn’t even wanna return to NOLA in general!!! 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 Not sure if it was bcuz I was a woman?!?!?!?! 🧐🧐🧐🤨🤨🤨🤔🤔🤔
