First time at Matchbox and we loooooved it! The food portions are insane, you definitely get bang for your buck. Shoutout to Nes she was fantastic, literally the best server I’ve ever had. 10/10 will definitely come back!

Today was my for time here at Matchbox in Silver Spring, I was with my wife, from the the time we walked in we're greeted with such hospitality and our waitress Becca was top notch very personable and efficient, we will definitely be coming back

Me and my husband went to matchbox today for the first time and it was a wonderful experience from the front door to our server Becca. She went above and beyond to explain the menu to me so I can clear understanding all my food came high. It was delicious. I normally have to send back food the first time in a long time that I did not have to send back something because it upset my stomach. Great job. I will be bringing my my daughter’s here.

Amaya provided exemplary customer service that went above and beyond. In the nine years I’ve patronized business with Matchbox never received service as execellent. Shout out also to Jake!

I’ve been to Matchbox in Silver Spring several times over the years and have always enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service, which is why it pains me to write this review. Unfortunately, during my most recent visit for a friend’s birthday, we had a very disappointing experience. Shortly after our meals were placed on the table, a bug flew directly into my friend’s food. We immediately brought it to the attention of both our waiter and the sous chef who had delivered the dish. They were apologetic, took the plate back to the kitchen, and assured us that a fresh replacement would be prepared. A few moments later, the replacement arrived, and we initially thought the situation had been handled appropriately. However, upon looking at the dish, it became apparent that it appeared to be the same plate from before—reheated and, incredibly, with the same bug still in the food. My friend jokingly asked if it was the same plate prior to it being placed on the table, and the staff member who brought it out looked her directly in the eye and assured her that it was not. Unfortunately, it clearly was. What makes this especially disappointing is that the service throughout the rest of the evening was actually excellent, and the atmosphere was pleasant as always. Had the kitchen simply prepared a new dish as promised, I likely wouldn’t be writing this review at all. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What I can’t overlook is being told one thing when the evidence suggested otherwise. I’ve had many positive experiences at Matchbox before, which is why this visit was so surprising. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because the staff was otherwise wonderful and I’d like to believe this was an isolated incident rather than a reflection of the restaurant’s standards.

I visited Matchbox for my birthday brunch and have been debating whether to write this review because the atmosphere, service, and overall experience were great—until an issue with my food left me very disappointed. When my first brunch plate was brought out, I noticed a bug flew in my food. I immediately informed Sous Chef Darius, who had delivered the plate. He apologized and took the dish back to be replaced. At that point, I felt the situation was being handled appropriately. However, when he returned with what he described as a “fresh plate,” he looked me in the eye and assured me that he would never bring back the same dish that had contained the bug. Before taking a bite, I inspected the food and quickly realized it appeared to be the exact same plate, with the bug still present. As a chef myself, this was extremely disappointing. While I understand that mistakes can happen in any restaurant, food safety and proper handling procedures should never be compromised. What bothered me most was not the initial incident, but the apparent attempt to serve the same contaminated plate after assuring me otherwise. It’s unfortunate because the service, atmosphere, and the rest of the experience were enjoyable. However, this situation raised serious concerns about food safety standards and left a negative impression on what should have been a special birthday celebration.

Rob the bartender was fantastic—knowledgeable and attentive. Manager Doug made us feel truly welcome, creating a great lunch experience that makes us want to return.

Alex was every thing and more. We were celebrating our 10 yr class reunion and he was so patient and attentive to us. He was great and we had a good time!!! The vibes were there:) thank you Alex for serving us!!

Food was amazing the unlimited brunch definitely worth it. Alex was great serving the table & kept checking in on us. Definitely will be returning
