We loved our stay in this beautifully maintained historic home in Mobile Alabama. Kate Shepard is my great aunt and I am so thankful that this family home is still available for folks to experience for themselves. We plan to visit again soon!
We continue to enjoy staying here when we are visiting Mobile!
Stunning and beautiful property. Management is a bit sketchy. TV remotes wouldn’t work in my room (battery), or downstairs. They got me to search the whole public part of the house looking for batteries to no avail. They wanted me to go to other rooms to find a remote so I could swap the batteries and asked me which rooms were occupied, I guessed wrong. Embarrassed trying to enter an occupied room. Finally finding an unoccupied room spending an hour to get a battery. They wanted to get me to go to the store to get a battery, but Uber was charging $15 to go the half mile. Isabel room bed is 3 ft high, so you need to be able to jump to get on bed. Coffee is in kitchen along with cream/milk, etc, but if you want sweetener none, oh it’s in another room, past the laundry, then another nook room where there is an espresso machine. Wish I knew this. I got attacked by the ice machine, probably because someone didn’t close the door all the way, melted ice blocked the mechanism, and when I opened the door ice cubes came tumbling out. I then had to dump the solid mass of ice cubes saving a few for me, clean up the floor of melting ice cubes which I didn’t seem to ever find them all. I set the thermostat 2 degrees lower since it seemed a bit warm, it never cooled down at all, probably because this is such a massive property with 12 ft ceilings. I’ll stop here. It is a wonderful and beautiful place but the management is a bit lacking. Great photo op!
The KS house was breathtaking. My room was beautiful and the location perfect, as it is near many activities and restaurants. However, I did lose a night's sleep due to one of the guests who began playing the piano at 2:00 a.m. They were quite talented but, I would have preferred sleeping over their song. Other than the early morning interruption, everything else was wonderful and I would definitely stay there again. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Fantastic experience. We were lucky enough to have the house to ourselves. Kelly ( the owner ) couldn’t have done more to make our stay comfortable. Little conveniences avail everywhere to make our stay more comfortable. Kelly even offered to go fetch us some beers as we hadn’t found anywhere locally that sold beer. We even swapped rooms on the day to a room with a fan. Kelly said use whatever we needed across the rooms. Lots of food avail for breakfast. The house is a vintage delight. Slightly ‘conjuring esque’ I have a vivid imagination. My husband thought I was bonkers. Lovely neighbourhood. The street the house is on is fascinating too. Super value for money. Would definitely stay again. As a final touch my husband left his trainers behind dnd Kelly looked for options to get them posted to us. Very kind. You must stay here for the unique experience. So much thought and effort has been put in to creating a truly historical stay.
We had a wonderful stay. The giant bath was such a treat. The house was beautiful and hosts were super responsive and helpful. Would love to return.
Husband and I spent our anniversary weekend at this beautiful estate, what a treat it was. Nice quiet location but still close enough to downtown Mobile it was like stepping back in time , but with a gorgeous modern bathroom. Will be visiting again.
