About this place Open Door Health

Open Door Health is an LGBTQ+-focused health center in Providence, opened in 2020 as a project of the Rhode Island Public Health Institute. It is at 7 Central Street. Services include HIV and STI testing and treatment, PrEP and PEP, primary care, and gender-affirming care including hormone therapy and surgical referrals. It also helps with name and gender-marker document changes. Testing is the service visitors are most likely to need; call ahead or check the clinic's website for walk-in times and insurance questions.

I feel strange saying this about a medical office but I love this place!! It is clean, welcoming, safe, and trustworthy. My experiences there have been with Gio and Stefan who have both been caring, informative, professional, and pleasant to be around during what can be tough moments. Thank you to Open Door Health! Take care of yourselves and get tested here!

I do not recommend ODH for primary care if you are an individual with complex or severe disabilities, or someone with an extensive medication regimen. You may have a problem with subjective decisions by primary care for medication changes or refills that will interrupt your treatment. They are amazing for gender affirming care, reproductive health, sexual health, and have great connections to other providers to make any needed referrals. Antonio, the RNs, assistant staff, and receptionists are all very helpful, kind, and active in supporting the community.

Communication used to be the best part of this practice, but due to recent growing pains, it has completely deteriorated. I used to confidently recommend this facility as a first stop for vulnerable patients. Sadly, as of six months ago, I had to stop my referrals entirely. It is now the last place I would recommend. I hope things improve.

The doctors and staff are caring and take the time to listen. My daughter, husband, and I are all seen here. Genuinely happy going to this place.

Sat in a private patient room for 40 minutes after I checked in and eventually walked out because it was pretty obvious that nobody had a clue what was going on. This place is so unprofessional. I was pleased with it for the first few years but in the last few years it's been really bad. No thank you. Do not recommend
