Beck's Motor Lodge

Very functional, clean bedding, somewhat bare bones furnishings, no dresser, but not distasteful. Bathroom is a little too bare, could use a shelf and additional towel hanger. Faint smell of chlorine, and the hot water cuts out once in a while. I mark service as good, because also very quick and efficient. Cleaning crew was already on site when I left early morning. And of course the location right by the Castro is unbeatable.

Great value for money, great neighborhood, and free parking. Fantastic.

This hotel has a retro vibe of late 60s vibe and artwork in the rooms. The beds are spacious and comfortable with the pillows being extra soft. The bathroom have a rain shower head and optional wand available. The TV has standard channels but it only 32 inches. The ac in the room takes time to cool the room down but by the time your ready for bed i was dressed like an Eskimo just to stay warm. This hotel is at the edge of the Castro district and castro street is just 2 lights away. The hotel was within walking distance of the Swedish American Hall.

Clean and spacious room, and the location was prime. The front desk staff were friendly. Loved being able to walk to different coffee shops and restaurants in the Castro, and Dolores Park is close by. I had the king deluxe room, which faced a quiet residential street - definitely worth the extra cost. Heard others mention thin walls, but I only heard my neighbours once very briefly watching TV over four nights. The bed was comfortable, but one side sagged a bit. The pillows were lumpy and when I asked for a replacement, they gave me another lumpy pillow. The room had some small maintenance issues - the bathroom sink drained very slowly and one of the window blinds was broken. But overall, you’re paying for location, and for that reason I would stay here again.

My friend and I stayed 4 nights for our spring break. The rooms were clean and the staff was amazing. On the first night, I twisted my ankle while walking the city and SueEllen at the desk gave us extra bags for the ice machine so I could ice it every night we were there. She also had an ice pack that she let me borrow since she was working the next night! The parking was super convenient, we got clippercard passes to use public transit, so it was nice getting to leave the car and not worry about driving and paying parking everyday. The hotel is located really close to lots of food places and an arcade bar down the street. Its close to several muni stops if using the public transit. I would stay here again if I were to visit San Francisco.

Great location

Clean hotel with solid WiFi and AC. Excellent location, walking distance to coffee, pastries, gyms, entertainment and tons of restaurants! We loved our stay and the neighborhood. Staff were kind and friendly, check in/check out was super easy. We didn’t need it, but they do have parking available (a rarity in SF)

I will start with the great things about this hotel - it is an excellent location in Castro, walkable to everything and there's a lot of restaurants around. Free parking, although it is first come, first served. I was able to check in a little early - no issues there. The hotel seems to know also all the little issues so they tried to provide solutions. For example, to help with the noise, they provided earplugs. To help with the ever changing weather in the city, they provide a portable heater or a fan. There's also AC in the room. But here's the not so great things. Firstly, when we entered the room, it was heavily smelled of bleach. It's like someone just got murdered in there and they were trying to cover up. I just cracked the window open, then turned on the fan to air it out. Second, the bed is quite lumpy and I noticed that there were visible stains on the comforter - I just hoped that the bedsheet between me and the comforter was clean. But these two I can deal with and manage. Upon night time though, that's when it all went downhill. I have read all the noisy complaints but didn't expect it to be this bad. I'm not sure if it was just my specific room (341), which only had one adjoining room. But by night fall, this rumbling started, it sounded like a low flying helicopter that was so bad, it was rattling our window. I don't know if it was the next room's AC or what it was exactly. The earplugs didn't help. Then all of a sudden, all the outside noise became so loud. You hear everything - sirens, crowd noise, people pulling their luggages, people returning to their rooms, more sirens. The noise was so clear and loud its as if I was sat outside. Then our adjoining room neighbors returned to their room and I can hear their conversation so clear, its as if we were all sat in the bed together and conversing. It was unsettling to say the least. Then early morning, the street sweepers came through and that was a very rude awakening as well. This place is great location and decent for a short stay. If you're just out here to party at Castro, then this place is for you. But if you need your sleep and are a light sleeper, I would suggest calling hotel and ask for the rooms that gets the least noise, I think there's some in the back on the third floor. Or bring excellent noise cancelling headsets or melatonin.

My husband and I stayed overnight and were very happy with our choice. Cicero helped us at check-in, and we appreciated his accommodation and hospitality. The rooms are very clean, and our bathroom was spacious. An elevator and staircase are available, making accessibility a breeze. The lodge is a quick walk from Castro Street, and there are many eateries nearby. Overall, we would choose Beck's Motor Lodge again. Thank you!

Always Spectacular. Will not stay anywhere but here when in town!!!
