Cowgirl BBQ

A nice restaurant for spending time with friends. The menu is varied and the terrace is pleasant.

We really enjoy cowgirl. The front courtyard has live music and we had three small children with us. We asked to be seated at the playground and it was a nice space for what it is. Shaded and has a small handful of tables. Crayons and chalk provided plus a ball throwing game. The service was very prompt and friendly. I love their butternut squash casserole. My kids got mad and cheese and grilled chicken. My husband got the vegetarian bean burger and liked it very much as well. We had parked at the garage and walked which was just far enough for our kids. We exited out the back gate and liked that feature so we didn't have to go through the live music again.

It’s hard to know exactly where to begin or the best adjectives to use to describe the most disturbing dining experience we have ever had. It became obvious that our waiter, in an effort to cover his ineptitude - and perhaps his job - went on the offensive. Cowgirl Hall of Fame Restaurant in Santa Fe has been a favorite of ours for over 25 years, offering great music outdoors and good food. Last night The Flyin A’s played fantastic music and our table experienced - suffered through the worst service ever. No silverware, no water although it took us four requests/ reminders to get it and incomplete orders resulting in the waiter adding an automatic 20% tip to our bill. He, Donovan and his manager Dominic justified this tip based upon what they said was restaurant policy … more than four people at our table and separate checks. No tip was automatically added to our six friends table sitting next to us. It was a shocking, humiliating, offensive ordeal especially when the manager told our companions that they were refusing service to my husband because he was drunk. eRic drunk on one beer - really? eRic the mild mannered peace maker who was cut off because on his fourth reminder to the waiter to get some water he raised his voice over the music and was accused of yelling at him. Poor sensitive Donovan the waiter who never apologized for forgetting our silverware or our complete order … who never came to take the order of a lady who joined our group late … and who it took four requests to get water… poor Donovan should not be a representative of this restaurant that we have patronized for years. Awesome BBQ and live music.

Took 35 mins to get food, food wasn't so great and the drinks we got weren't very good staff was very nice though.

Slow service. Small two tops. Cowhide covered chairs are scratchy on bare legs.

I’m not sure what the he11 they are using for “cheddar cheese “ on their burgers but is absolutely in’s NOT cheese! This crap had no taste and felt like wax that was orange/yellow coloring. I started eating my burger then quickly realized some odd texture. I asked the waitress what the heck this stuff was that I had pulled of the burger. Her face and comment said it all, she said “ it’s supposed to be cheese “. This is seriously wrong to label this and sell it to the public as cheese when it’s obviously some manufactured crap! This this is what is making people really sick. I have photos but can’t upload them on this review site.

food was great but server couldn't figure out how to get a comfortable setting on the heater. was a lot sweatier than I prefer until they turned it off and I froze. I really think the host should not have been seating people where we were in cold weather. edit: went on 6/2, burger was just past the medium I requested, but whatever, I'm not super picky. the fries, however, were outright terrible. first batch arrived cold, server brought more, they were overcooked and unseasoned (fries should be salted asap out of the frier or it doesnt stick). really sub par experience for a $19 cheeseburger plate. I don't mind paying for quality, but I expect quality, not inedible strips of what was once a potato
