Irish Lodge South Bend

Stayed here a year ago when was under different ownership. Decided to try it out. As of 5-24-26 they seem to be updating, fixing and cleaning up. Pool was closed but being worked on. One elevator was down but being worked on. And painting different areas. Still very nice place to stay. Had good breakfast, little snack area. Good size lounge area. Have laundry room.

Came for graduation and we stayed here for 5 nights. Service was good, room is clean. Breakfast available with no hassles and coffee more or less always available.

Dated but not bad

I tried to give this a better rating, but for a $300 room I was hoping to at least have a decent blanket. Instead I got a 2mm thick bathroom mat looking thing as the extra blanket for the couch, and the bedding for the normal beds seemed to be made of plastic. The smell of the restrooms was also revolting. Definitely do not recommend. The Irish room was very displeasing and my Irish brother was sad there were no Irish events.

Worth what I paid....

Sarah the “only manager” refused to provide half of a decent customer experience. Upon arrival we were told we had to park in the very back of the building because we had a small utility trailer, and with our young children had to walk all the way around to the outside of the building because none of their doors worked. We get inside and none of their elevators work and then we get into our room that we booked for two queen beds in a fold up couch and there is none so I go to discuss this with the receptionist So that we can at least have the right room that we booked online and even though I showed her the email with my booking information, she’s still continued to refuse to help and told me that I could just leave without my money if I didn’t want the room and when I asked to speak to her manager or get any kind of information from her about a manager, she refused. Hands-down, the absolute worst hotel experience I have ever had in my life. Not to mention the atrocious smell of the entire building. No explanation for the rooms and how you can’t access even the lobby from your room and have to go outside in the cold and walk around trashed filled grass to get to the front door.

So upon check in they seemed to have issues with their system. Had to sign a waiver saying we wouldn't smoke or damage room which I thought a bit odd. Didn't tell me how to get to the room or where the elevator was. I had to ask after we brought our bags in. Our room had water damage to wall like the roof leaked. The bathroom didn't lock. There was a night light in bathroom that didn't work. While somewhat trivial, there was thick layer of dust on the slot the key goes in to unlock the door. Furniture was old. There was a mini fright and coffee maker. Our friends said the door handle to their room came off. Pool was closed, no indication at time of booking that the pool was closed. Most hotels have a sign that lights up by the road this place does not. If you need a place to crash this place will do, but other than that I wouldn't recommend.

The worst hotel i have ever stayed at

I would like to be able to provide a review of the hotel room, but sadly my reservation was cancelled by the hotel. I booked two rooms for an upcoming concert, and 8 days later was notified that my reservation was cancelled as the hotel was over booked. However, they are still listing the rooms as available, but with even greater price surging. Normally the rooms are 65 a night, I was paying 208, they are now listed at over 450 a night. I guess for a good location, they justify this as their idea of good business practice - canceling reservations and then resell for more money- while blaming the booking site and a system error. Service would get a negative score for this business practice.

Stayed for a hockey tourney and the hotel was chosen for us. Staff is awesome. Hotel is currently being updated after a recent sale. Really missed having a pool as it was being repaired.
