Great location and hotel but needs a modest retrofit but seriously the bar restaurant and the location are killer good for whatever you need to do in DC! And service excellent.

5 Star, extravaganza feeling. Outstanding for clients.

If you want to feel like you’re staying in a strangers basement for $700 a night, this is the hotel for you! We booked a superior king room and were given a damp basement room with barely enough space to put our luggage down. We opened the curtains to reveal a giant yellow wall with a tiny window, about 8 feet high, right under the ceiling that you can’t see out of. The carpet was dirty/damp and the shower had mold. Just know if your room is on the “1st floor” you’re actually going to the basement below the lobby. Luckily we were able to switch to the room we booked but not until the second night. We weren’t given any sort of compensation for their mistake, (not even a drink to say sorry for their mix up) and when American Express called the manager was even rude to them! What an experience. I would have much rather spent my money elsewhere. To top it all off they tried to charge us twice :). I expect A LOT more from a Kimpton. I travel for business and fun often and used to stay in Kimptons, but I don’t think I ever will again.

This place is a DUMP. I"ve stayed at many Kimpton properties and have always loved them but will never stay here again. First and foremost, the rooms are terrible. Old. Puke yellow wall paint. Horrible lay out (you will be looking at your toilet from bed, the desk is in a bizarre, dark nook to the side, as is the only air vent in the room). My room had mold in the shower and the sink. The lights were different colored lightbulbs and there was no switch to control the lights in the room. Each light needed to be manually adjusted. If you value having a cold room, stay somewhere else. Because of the single vent that is poorly placed, it took an entire day for my room to cool to 68 degrees. When I complained about this to the front desk at night, the night clerk basically laughed in my face. After I insisted, he sent a maintenance person who turned the heat on in the room and then turned the AC on and explained to me that it was working fine, even though he'd made my room hotter in the process of doing this. My room was placed on the 4th floor right next to a ballroom and there were events every night I stayed there, which meant there was a constant flood of people and noise late into the night in my room which made sleeping difficult. I tried to order room service 5 times and the line was busy or went directly to voicemail. I left one voicemail, and was never called back and received no food. DO NOT stay at this hotel if you have the bare minimum of standards--this hotel certainly doesn't.

Centrally located. Basement room was very large. Restaurant small, but had a very good breakfast.

I recently stayed at Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC and had a bit of a mixed experience. The location is absolutely fantastic and being right in the heart of the city made it so easy to walk to everything I wanted to see. The building itself is beautiful and has a lot of character which I really appreciated. However the room felt a little smaller than I expected and the service was just okay. It was a fine place to stay for a couple of nights but for the price I was hoping for something a little more polished.

Extremely disappointed with this hotel. Front desk staff were rude and not accommodating. Think they need to be reminded they work in the service industry and customers are paying a lot of money to stay here. WiFi was awful and I was there for a work trip. Rooms ok but small bathroom and not really very clean. Checked out a day early

The stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC was wonderful! The hotel is beautiful, clean, and perfectly located. The staff was kind, welcoming, and always available to help. The rooms were comfortable and elegant, and the atmosphere made the experience even more special. I highly recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again. Thank you for the amazing hospitality!

We stayed 1 night to enjoy a concert nearby. It is extremely walkable to everything! The monuments, concet halls and lots of food. 100% would stay here again.

After years of an annual event being hosted at The Willard it was moved here. Meeting room, food, A/V, and staff were amazing! Food included lunch during meeting and dinner ever after. Five stars!!! Excited for next year’s event.
