The Phoenix Park Hotel, on North Capitol Street Northwest, has been putting up guests since 1922. It’s right there in Capitol Hill, a short walk to the big government buildings and whatever else pulls people to D.C.
Renamed in 1982, it’s always had a reputation for taking all comers: business travelers, tourists, everyone. That includes LGBTQ+ visitors, who’ll find it a friendly spot in a city with a real queer history and a lively community.
From here, you can easily get to Dupont Circle and Logan Circle, two neighborhoods with plenty of LGBTQ+-friendly places to eat and drink and hang out. The hotel itself keeps things comfortable and simple, a solid base whether you’re here for work, sightseeing, or to connect with Washington’s queer scene.
It’s a historic building with proper hospitality standards. Don't expect anything flashy; it’s just a reliable place to stay.

I can't say enough good things about the Phoenix Park Hotel. My girlfriend and I stayed here while in DC for the Warped Tour, and from the moment we arrived, the customer service was absolutely top-notch. Every staff member we encountered at the front desk, regardless of the shift, was friendly, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about making our stay a great experience. The hotel went above and beyond by allowing us to check in several hours early so we could get settled and make it to the concert on time. After checkout the next day, they also let us keep our car in valet until 11:00 PM because they knew we were spending the day at the festival. That level of flexibility and customer service is rare these days. What really stood out was that around 10:30 PM, the hotel actually called to make sure everything was okay since we hadn't returned yet. That simple gesture showed how much they care about their guests. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and in a fantastic location near Union Station. As an added bonus, The Dubliner is connected through the lobby and served one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had in a long time. If you're visiting DC, do yourself a favor and stay here. The Phoenix Park Hotel has earned a customer for life.
The bed was a disaster..location was very good and they provide free coffee 24 hours with a coffee machine located at the 2nd floor and complemented drinks which was amazing for the US standards. Nearby parking Garage was very helpful. The hotel receptionist was helpful.
Rooms on the smaller side but nicely appointed. Onsite Irish Pub, close to Union Station. Solid option.
