Imperfecto in DC's West End earns its Michelin star by doing the opposite of what the name promises. ✨ We opened with the Aladdin Burrata, and it is a small lesson in contrast: silky, milky burrata sitting on tamarind hummus, scattered with lentil tabbouleh fried so crisp it crackles, and little hits of apple compote that cut through with sweetness. Mediterranean and Latin ideas share one plate without stepping on each other, and you scoop the whole thing up with warm manoush. It is playful and precise at once. Then came the Truffle Tagliolini, and this was the plate we kept fighting over. 🍝 The pasta is made in house and cooked with real restraint, folded into a sweet corn cream that is rich without turning heavy, with asparagus for bite and Pecorino for salt. The shaved truffle lands on top and pulls the whole bowl earthy and aromatic. It reads unusual on paper and tastes completely convincing on the fork. Dessert held the line too. 🍫 The eclair arrived with a proper crackle to the choux, a cream filling that was smooth and not too sweet, and a glossy glaze that made it feel finished rather than fussy. Between the three, this was a meal that took real swings and connected on every one. The room is warm and gold-lit, the service is dialed in, and I already want to go back and work through the rest of the menu.
