Very lovely bed and breakfast! We loved the curated antique furniture and the personality of the whole place. The garden beds were a highlight and the breakfast was pretty nice with fresh squeezed orange juice.

The Summit Street Inn was very clean, quiet, and is a unique historic property. It is in a very convenient location to downtown Winston Salem. Staff were friendly and there were excellent restaurants in walking distance. The complimentary breakfast was delicious (scrambled eggs, grits, bacon, yogurt and fruit, bread bagels, muffins, etc.). Bed was very comfortable. Parking was safe and ample right in back of the Inn. The only reason I rated my stay at a 4/5 is because my room was so cold and no matter how much I turned up the thermostat it remained cold. The hallways and first floor were nice and toasty leading me to believe the room I was in was not getting proper airflow from the furnace. There was a portable heater available for use in the room.

I stayed two days in the Winston room on the 2nd floor, but I was able to see two other rooms on the same floor and all were very impressive! The rooms are very large with comfortable beds, very nice linens and a profusion of quality "My Pillows". The bathroom is extremely spacious and well appointed with a cast iron soaking tub (complete with Dead Sea bath salts) and the shower is lovely with a tilted floral design in the center and two shower heads and a marble topped shelf/bench. It's technically large enough for several people! The TV is also oversized and the room has a mini fridge but no microwave. However, there is a microwave in the common room downstairs. Breakfast was hot and especially delicious with scrambled eggs, grits, crisp bacon, fresh muffins and a variety of fruits and breads for toasting. Stephanie was extremely helpful and I highly recommend The Summit Street Inn.

What a special place ! The combination of deep history with quirky/unique decorations everywhere gives you more to see the more you look ! The rooms are quiet, well-appointed.... and each one is different. Stephanie, my host, was very friendly and attentive with lots of good ideas of places to visit and made the stay especially charming. The full breakfast is amazing... different each day... and a glass of wine each evening. Great location for walking to nearby restaurants and downtown.... and a quick drive to Wake Forest. Very reasonably priced and highly recommend staying here.

I have tinnitus and sound sensitivities and always look for hotels with quiet HVAC systems and plumbing. The Summit Street Inns came through. The buildings are restored old houses, but the rooms are quiet. Street noise was also minimal, as the buildings are located on the edge of downtown rather than right in the middle -- walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The rooms are all different. We chose the loft with the spacious bathroom, soaking tub and shower. It was clean, thoughtfully decorated and very comfortable overall. We did not get to stay for breakfast, but it is made and served on-site. The wine at check-in was also a nice touch, and all the good things people say here about Mary Evelyn are correct. She is a gem, and made our first trip to Winston-Salem a good one.
