Hotel Nyack - JDV by Hyatt

We had a subpar experience at this hotel. Problems with air conditioning, overly soft mattress, rowdy guests whose noise level was not dealt with by staff, and mediocre food. Pool area and bar/lounge areas are nice. Decent location.

I am writing this review 10 minutes after checking in. I have not even seen my room yet. I never do this. Juninbel at the front desk is the reason I am typing right now. She recognized I was a Globalist member the second I walked up and thanked me for it immediately. That never happens. Usually it comes at the very end almost like an afterthought. She walked me through the entire property, made me feel completely at home, and by the time check-in was done I felt like I had known her for years. That kind of warmth is rare. You cannot train it. Either you have it or you do not, and she has it. By the way, the property itself is beautiful. The atmosphere is cool, the vibe is inviting, and the space pulls you in the moment you walk through the door. But Juninbel is the reason I am writing this before I even unpack. She is the reason people stay loyal to a brand. This is why I stay at Hyatt and nowhere else.

Junibel was very kind to me, she answered all the questions, she offered me a bottle of water. She’s truly amazing. She did everything possible to make sure I get the best service and everything I needed

As a local Nyack family, we were really disappointed with our experience trying to celebrate our daughter’s 9th birthday at Hotel Nyack. We wanted to book 2 rooms so our daughter could spend the day at the pool with 3 friends, and after they left, my wife, daughter, aunt, and I would stay overnight at the hotel. We first asked about day passes, but were told kids are not allowed at the pool on weekends because adults are drinking. So instead, we offered to fully book 2 rooms just to be able to enjoy the pool during the day. Unfortunately, that was not accommodated either. Check-in is at 4 PM, and there was absolutely no flexibility for early check-in, even when we said we were willing to pay extra. The overall feeling was that every possible solution was shut down instead of trying to help us make it work. It was disappointing because we were genuinely excited to support a local hotel and create a special birthday memory for our daughter.

The concept is great in the sense that Hyatt is repurposing an old factory with bold, colorful design, but the execution is poor. Furniture is quite worn with broken buttons and flaky vinyl. I loved the Johnathan Adler amenities. Whereas they advertise a free breakfast, what we saw was a single rectangular table with water, coffee and brown spotted bananas. Hotel Nyack advertises a balcony with a view for an upcharge. What you get is a balcony with a view of off ramps and a highway in the foreground and the Hudson in the background. We happily chose the cemetery view instead which was much quieter with lovely green grass. I appreciated the operable windows and would recommend a translucent shade as opposed to the current adhesive covering.

I recently stayed at Hotel Nyack with my son for his birthday and overall had a really memorable experience. The hotel itself has such a cool atmosphere. The design felt modern, moody, and thoughtfully styled without feeling cold. I especially loved the lighting, fixtures, lounge spaces, and overall aesthetic throughout the property. It felt comfortable while still feeling elevated. The housekeeping staff were incredibly kind throughout our stay, and several members of the front desk team Junibel and Estephania were welcoming and accommodating as well. One staff member Junibel, especially made an effort to acknowledge my son’s birthday, which meant a lot to me as a mom. There were also several thoughtful amenities that made the stay more convenient. They offered complimentary snacks in the waiting area, had a gym available for guests, and when I requested a microwave for the room, they brought one up without issue. I also appreciated being able to charge restaurant purchases directly to the room. The restaurant and bar connected to the hotel were nice additions too. The drinks were good, the food was decent, and the overall atmosphere downstairs was really enjoyable. The rooms themselves were clean and comfortable overall. During our stay, one room had a curtain that was partially disconnected and another room felt a little under-furnished compared to the first, but nothing major enough to ruin the experience. The pool was closed during our visit, though I know they do have one available seasonally. I also appreciated that parking was available on-site, which added convenience for traveling with luggage and a child Overall, I genuinely enjoyed our stay. The hotel had a unique character to it, the staff were mostly warm and accommodating, and it created a really nice birthday trip memory for my son and me.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Hotel Nyack and would strongly advise others to think twice before staying here. From the moment we arrived, the experience was poor. The elevators and hallways had a strong smell of marijuana, which is completely unacceptable—especially when traveling with a newborn. Things only got worse from there. We ordered food from the hotel restaurant and waited over an hour for it to arrive. When it finally did, it was cold and completely incorrect. Basic service standards were clearly not met. As a parent of a 5-week-old baby, I needed something as simple as a kettle to prepare formula. I went to the front desk and was told they didn’t have one. When I asked the staff member to check, he dismissively told me I was closer to the bar than he was. That level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. I ultimately had to leave the hotel and go to Target just to purchase a kettle myself. The most serious issue, however, was the cleanliness of the room. There were ants throughout the living area, bedroom, and both restrooms. To make matters worse, I found ants crawling on my newborn’s crib (that the hotel provided) . At that point, I had no choice but to remove my baby immediately. This is beyond unacceptable and a serious health concern. To add to the frustration, the front desk made multiple incorrect charges to my card while attempting to process credits. This only created more confusion and inconvenience. A 1 night stay and the lady at front desk managed to charge my card to the total of $1048.93 While the hotel did refund the room and food, that is not compensation—that is the bare minimum for services that failed this badly. I also attempted to resolve this through Hyatt Hotels Corporation customer service, but they treated the refund as if it was sufficient resolution. It is not. This stay fell far below any reasonable standard of hospitality, cleanliness, and professionalism. I would not stay here again, and I would not recommend it to others.
