KharkivPride 2027 — ХарківПрайд
About the event
Attack on KharkivPride and its team. Despite everything, we announce the dates for the next pride.
On September 12, the KharkivPride March took place in Kharkiv.
Before, during, and after the March, the KharkivPride team and individual organizers received threats of physical violence, murder, explosions, and attacks with explosive weapons.
Before the March, unknown individuals were surveilling the car of organizer Anna Sharygina. After the event, a group of homophobic extremists tried to track down our team and waited for them in nearby alleys.
Later, unknown individuals damaged the entrance to the Pride Hub: they covered the door with homophobic stickers, scratched off our logo, damaged the intercom camera, and tried to break in. Anna Sharygina's car was also covered with homophobic stickers and had its tires slashed.
We consider the threats, attempts to track down and pursue the team for physical violence, and the attempted break-in and property damage as a targeted attack on KharkivPride and the LGBTQ+ community of Kharkiv.
We have already filed police reports and expect a proper investigation into each of these cases, taking into account the motive of intolerance.
Year after year, opponents of equality try to disrupt our events, intimidate the team, and force LGBTQ+ people to become invisible. Threats, persecution, and property damage are actions for which accountability must be established.
Bravery does not mean that we are never afraid. It means that fear does not decide for us whether we have the right to live, to love, to be visible, to speak, and to defend our rights.
