About this place LEGABIBO

LEGABIBO (Lesbians, Gays and Bisexuals of Botswana) is the country's main LGBTIQ+ rights organisation, based in Gaborone. It began as a support group in 1998 and won the right to register as an organisation in 2016 after a Court of Appeal ruling. It took part in the case that led the High Court to decriminalise same-sex relations in 2019, a decision the Court of Appeal upheld in 2021. Its work covers advocacy, legal support and health programmes, and it is involved in Gaborone Pride. It is an organisation rather than a social venue.
