Global Backpackers Cairns
Visitors frequently praise the hostel's excellent location, close to shops, tours, and the lagoon, and appreciate the clean, well-maintained facilities including the kitchen and rooftop balcony. However, a common complaint is about uncomfortable room temperatures and humidity, with some guests also reporting unpleasant smells and a lack of airflow.

rooms where pretty stinky we asked for air freshener and were told they didn’t have any. lots of longterm guests who live in the hostel which they should probably separate from people who are just traveling through. Our room was a mess with people’s things there are no curtains or lights for the beds overall not a great hostel.
Wow! This place is wonderful. From the second we entered Michelle and the team treated us with kindness and respect not often found these days. Being in our 70s we were concerned about staying at a Backpackers but should not have been. We have a queen room with balcony which overlooks the Cairns lagoon across the road. It is clean and very comfortable bed with lovely pillows. Only drawback is drying/hanging space, we went to KMart and purchased a $6 airer which fixed that. Great discounts at local eateries. The 4th floor has a lounge/kitchen/balcony overlooking the Coral Sea which if only the users would be a little more responsible, would stay clean, as the cleaners scrub twice a day. Location is awesome. We have stayed at much worse 5* properties. So glad we found Global Backpackers hostel.
Fantastic location, beautiful rooms, everything was spot on and the staff were lovely on top. Highly recommended!
Good view, good location, clean
Best place, best location, just a shame the sports pass is only available for a limited time.
Great location and value for money. Only negative is that the reception shuts at 7pm. This makes it hard to check in, but other than this all great
The worst hostel in Cairns; the staff are generally friendly, except for yiphan, who is aggressive and showed a lack of professionalism by shouting at us because we complained about being charged extra for a late checkout, even though we vacated the room at 10.30am instead of 10am. We explained this was due to a lack of sleep caused by impromptu parties held by other guests all night long within the hostel grounds, and the hostel did nothing about it. Rules are rules, we understand and we paid, except that Eva continued to be hysterical, saying, ‘If you don’t like the hostel, leave; we don’t like you either,’ which shocked us; she was even prepared to cancel our next booking.
