About this place Sunnyside North Beach

Sunnyside North Beach, below the cliffs south of Mount Eliza on the Mornington Peninsula, is Victoria's best-known clothing-optional beach and a long-standing gathering place for gay and naturist visitors, with the northern end the gay section. It sits about an hour south of Melbourne by car, near Frankston. Legal as a nude beach and framed by bushland and bay views, it draws a friendly LGBTQ+ crowd through the warmer months. There are no facilities, so bring water, and note that access is via a steep track down from the clifftop car park.

Stayed at the Sunnyside Motel in Port Broughton and couldn't have asked for a better base for the trip. The location is spot on—just down the road from the Port Broughton Hotel, the jetty and the beautiful parklands, making it easy to wander around without having to jump back in the car. Parking is plentiful, check-in was quick and hassle-free, and the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and well appointed, with great blackout blinds for a solid night's sleep and an excellent rainfall shower that was a pleasant surprise. The complimentary Tim Tams in the fridge were also a nice touch and definitely didn't last long! There's also a swimming pool for anyone brave enough to take a dip during winter—I admired it from a safe distance! A comfortable, clean and well-located motel with thoughtful little extras. I'd happily stay here again when visiting Port Broughton.

I was surprised to find the accommodation here was so expensive. It lacked the following amenities found in accommodation we have stayed in, when we have been travelling around the country with cheaper rates. These include the basic things:- No fresh milk only long life milk. No ice None of the following in the room tissues hairdryer Ironing board Iron Body lotion - even the cheapest places has some form of this No plates settings for 2 or cutlery - even the cheapest places we've stayed has these. No long dress mirror. The blind is fitted inside the window with a sheer curtain over it. This allows a lot of outside light in, and made it hard to sleep. It would be much better if the blind was fitted to cover the outside of the frame to make the room dark, or have a blackout curtain fitter to completely cover the whole window. The bathroom light was a bare led light bulbs. It needs a cover. The light and fan turn on at the same time, so the day the light comes on with the fan. For $145.00 I would expect to find these amenities in the room. The rooms were spotless. Overall the room was too expensive with a lot lacking. It is the only motel here, so no competition to charge less to compensate for the lack of amenities or incentive to amend the lack of amenities. During to lack of competition.

We recently stayed one night at this motel. The room had been recently renovated in a modern style and was very clean and tidy. The bed and linen were comfortable, ensuring a good night’s rest. Parking was convenient, right in front of the room. There is no reception on-site—you simply collect the keys from the nearby pub, which was easy enough. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The location is great, within walking distance to the beach, jetty, and a local coffee shop. Overall, a comfortable and hassle-free stay.

Good luck with your check in. This motel has two names on the expedia site. Both offering very different prices. The reception is at the Hotel down the road. The staff wanted me to pay $140 for a room after booking and paying on line with expedia. The staff requested to see my visa statement and receipt from expedia. Then stated I need to pay them directly as well. Finally got the key after 30 mins of discussions. The room is clean. The air-conditioning was good. Bed was very hard. No hair dryer. Big room. Tea and coffee available. I personally will not go back.

The mattress on the bed is the cheapest and worst we’ve ever experienced. It was so hard and unforgiving to backs , hips and shoulders. The toilet seat did not fit the toilet. The room was clean, though bathroom and shower extremely small. Ladies no hair dryer.

Room was clean comfortable and fresh with a modern feel. Good price for what was offered. Central location and within walking distance of shops. Checkin was quick and easy at the pub down the road. We found staff very friendly and helpful. Overall very quiet location except for group of people in nearby room one night who partied till 4:30am which put a sour note on our whole experience and with no after-hours contact they continued to party even after other guests told them to stop. Items would have like to see would been hair dryer and coffee pod machine which you find in almost every motel we have been to recently. Bigger bed would have been good too, only double in the room we had.

Great room but it would make guests happier if there were toasters and microwaves in the rooms. A kitchenette of some sort would be great and a crab cooking facility. Pool is lovely to cool off in and BBQ across the road made things a little easier.

Beautifully renovated rooms with comfortable bed and pillows. Delightful managers who also run the local pub which has delicious meals and incredible staff who are incredibly welcoming and fun. Thank you to you all for the fantastic few nights, it was a pleasure and we’ll be back very soon.

Loved the rain head shower , comfortable bed , fluffy pillows , smart TV and general decor . Tim Tam's in the fridge!!! . Rooms freshly renovated , would like a sheer curtain or blind , minor detail . Was checked in very efficiently and professionally by ?English? fellow in the bar at the pub . Late checkout 12 midday super easy and not an issue for the very friendly cleaning lady I met at the motel . Loved the retro feel of the exterior renovation . As I said , will definitely be back and will recommend to travellers . (I'm in the industry , we have 6 Roadhouses with accommodation . Well done to owners and managers . 1 negative, being told a 2 hr wait at 6.00 pm for a simple 3 cheese pizza was a bit much , ate elsewhere.

I found the rooms had been refurbished and were excellent. The breakfast at the hotel was basic and there was plenty to choose from . We enjoyed our meals at the hotel. The staff were friendly and courteous.
