About this place Cooper's Hotel

Cooper's Hotel is a relaxed, gay-friendly pub in the heart of Newtown on King Street, best known for its rooftop beer deck and a calendar of playful drag-hosted events, including Gender Bender Bingo and drag trivia nights. It draws a mixed local crowd and is a comfortable, unpretentious spot for a drink in one of Sydney's most queer-friendly neighbourhoods. It is not a dedicated gay venue, but its regular drag programming and inclusive atmosphere have earned it a place on Sydney gay-nightlife guides. The rooftop is a popular warm-weather hangout, and the central King Street location puts it within walking distance of Newtown's other queer-popular pubs.

Lukewarm inedible Nachos. I am a regular customer at the Cooper's Arms, and today I ordered the Beef Nachos which was lukewarm. I informed the female manager who was completely dismissive. After some debate she eventually conceded and I received my reheated meal shortly afterwards. It was still lukewarm and as I didn't want another confrontation just ate the corn chips. I would also like to say, that the bar staff have always been very helpful and always polite to customers. Today was an exception.

A great laid back venue with very good food. Dogs are permitted in the dining area (I have no issues there) but there is no attempt by the dog owners or pub staff to ensure they are controlled. During our visit one dog continually wandered around sniffing people and tables. A shame, it spoils an otherwise great place

Staff and patrons bullied me when I tried to be a regular. Eventually they'd just bar me for expressing how I felt about it. I'd describe the staff as mean spirited and the patrons as depressed. Not surprised why the locals are depressed, just listen to the music played. A family owned pub shouldn't brag when they also own multiple aged care facilities. Gigi does a very poor job.
