About this place Camperdown Park

Camperdown Park, a leafy public park on the border of Newtown and Camperdown just off Australia Street, has a long-standing place in Sydney's gay history as one of the inner west's best-known beats, informal cruising areas, with activity historically centred on the park after dark. It is documented across gay guides and Sydney LGBTQ+ histories, though like most beats its use is discreet and low-key today rather than reliably active. A few practical notes: this is a family park by day, so discretion and respect for other users are essential, and public-decency laws still apply even though New South Wales has strong LGBTQ+ protections. The park has seen documented anti-gay incidents in the past, so ordinary night-time caution is sensible. It sits within a short walk of King Street's pubs.

Been goinig here since I was little. The cafe store right by it is awesome to have while taking a walk through the park. The park bit is so fun along with the football field and everything there.
