Very disappointed that this is really the only queer youth space in Perth. Some of the staff are very well meaning but the ones that aren't completely ruin it. I read a review from five years ago complaining about having to walk on eggshells and I'm disappointed that nothing has changed. It is deeply problematic tell 13 year olds to take off their cat ears because you associate it with fettish wear. I also would just not recommended it for anyone who is neurodivergent and has any sensory needs or issues with social cues became it is hard enough to mask as if without being micromanaged on your behaviour and clothing choices 🥲
As compared to my experience at other places, FC is my favorite. There is free badges and a clothes rack as well as stickers and food! The peer ed's are all sweet and they give you a tour upon your first entry and give you the rules eg. no fetish clothing, keep drama outside etc. If you're particularly anxious to come for the first time, shoot them an e-mail or a DM, they'll let you know what to do! You grab a name badge and write your preffered name and pronouns, get the tour and then you can do what you like! Not far from the train station and the IGA it's wonderful. People here are super kind and there isn't much to worry about other than THE JUICE BOXES (very popular and very out of stock) hehehe. There are books, art supplies, beads, and a guitar I believe. The peer ed's actually chat to you and get to know you and moderate both subject of conversation and volume level. In all seriousness, being young and queer, this is one of the safest places you can go to make friends. Everyone is queer and/or neurodivergent and people tend to just 'get it' when you're struggling. You'll make some great friends.
Very welcoming and friendly. Divided by under/over 18 sessions. There is a free clothes rack you can donate to, regular events involving arts and crafts, and online sessions. Calendar can be found on the discord server.
Fantastic place for teens to hang out and relax with like minded people. Great support for teens.
