About this place Oxford Hotel

The Oxford Hotel has been central to Oxford Street's identity for decades, operating as a multi-level gay pub at one of the most prominent addresses on Sydney's premier gay strip. The venue's format — multiple bars across several levels, a rooftop terrace with views over Darlinghurst, and programming that includes live entertainment, drag shows, and DJ nights — makes it more than a single-room pub; it functions as a social hub and meeting point for Oxford Street's regulars and visitors alike. The rooftop terrace is one of the best outdoor drinking spaces in the inner city during Sydney's long summer evenings. The Oxford's crowd is mixed across the gay spectrum — from the after-work professionals who fill the main bar on weekday evenings to the weekend crowd that moves between the Oxford and the clubs further down the strip. The hotel's position on Oxford Street, directly in the flow of foot traffic between Taylor Square and the blocks heading toward Paddington, makes it a natural gathering point and a reliable venue at any time of day or evening. For LGBTQ+ visitors to Sydney who want a single venue that captures the breadth of Oxford Street social life, the Oxford Hotel is the starting point.

Ugh - save your money and eat elsewhere. Terrible pasta at Brocks - watery and no flavour. Annoying system where you order at the table - no table service. Staff at the bar not exactly super friendly. Made a booking one day, then received a "confirmation call" less than 24 hours later. Tried to ring back but Brocks phone robot didn't recognise the booking and just went around in circles. Complete lack of service and horrible food. Noisey big screens too. Ugh

Fantastic meals and quick service. The steak was cooked perfectly and the pasta was full of flavour. Haven't been here in a few years but was in Bathurst for the day and it is incredible.

if I we’re hungry in Bathurst, I would highly recommend you look for better service and food at any other venue in Bathurst (ie. Knickerbocker Hotel) compared to attending the The Oxford Hotel - B Town BBQ. Food was served inaccurately and without plates in mess-hall style trays. We ordered a share meal of ribs and two types of chicken wings (menu suggested 1/2kg of each, and were serves 4wings with 4 tiny sauces and 7-8x tiny ribs for $95!! A total rip off. Mater-Dei suggested there had been an error and tried to correct the chef’s error, but meal was cold. They then came out with other wings in 20mins, but without a vegetables and pickle ‘jar’ (which is a big a jar as would contain 30c of lollies!) Poor Poor Poor Service, when it took two Waitresses and a mater-dei to cover the kitchens error. We offered feedback to the staff, but they told us to complain to the mgr at bar. We were then told by bar staff to turnaround and piss off and not pay for the meal! We offered feedback, & we’re disappointed to have to be handled in the manner. NEVER will we return. Quite a disappointing experience. Alicia was great in service, but the rest of your establishment deserves a lesson in apologising. Photos attached are what was served (ribs + 4 wings, vs what was supposed to be served (ribs and 1/2kg EACH of 2 types of wings) #weightsandmeasuresinaccuracy

Unfortunately this hotel was recommended to us! We were served 2 of the worst meals we've ever had. I ordered a beef burger on gluten free bun(which was $5 extra!!!) 2 beef patties, 2 slices of tasteless tomato, a few strands of onions all covered in some non descript sauce. Meat was overcooked & dry & words can't describe how bad the bun was. One bite of it was enough!! My husband had a schnitty with chips & salad. Nothing had any taste...dried out chicken, limp, tired salad & frozen chips!! Huge disappointment!!

The customer service from the staff was pitiful! Rude is an understatement! The bar staff really need some upskilling on how paying customers should be treated! Absolutely disgraceful!

Ordered scotch fillet steak ($35) and $15 worth of fat on it. Under cooked - not edible. Ordered “specials” beef and pork lasagne which was two thirds mozzarella cheese. Came home hungry!

Went there, for dinner. 3 meals came out 10 minutes apart. Any cook would usually get all meals out on time. A 400 gram T Bone was ordered it was lucky to be 250 grams and not a real T Bone had no tail no or little tenderloin. Ribs were good and just OK.Pick hou game up and don't try and rip off your customers.

WOW! Everything was delicious! We had the brisket which melted in your mouth. The pork ribs where the meat just fell right off the bone. The sticky chicken wings with Ranch and blue cheese sauces. The sweet potato fries cooked to perfection. Just divine! Dissapointed though we couldn't order the Wednesday 1kg wings for $12.50 special because they were only available at the bar, felt like getting up and having them as our appetiser, then returning to our table for our mains. Our 1/2 kg of wings were $17.50, they were all coming out of the same kitchen!
