Varta Trust

Varta Trust is a Kolkata-based organisation working on gender and sexuality through publishing, research, advocacy and community services. It produces the Varta webzine, runs a queer-friendly services directory, and is the custodian of the Counsel Club Archives — the records of one of India's earliest queer support groups, active in Kolkata through the 1990s. In recent years it has also opened community resource and drop-in initiatives for queer and trans people across greater Kolkata.
