Urbanz Accomodation Christchurch
Visitors frequently praise the hostel's convenient location, comfortable beds, and well-equipped common areas. However, some guests have experienced issues with room maintenance, such as broken doors and unpleasant smells, and a recent change in amenities like the discontinuation of free baby formula has disappointed some returning guests.

I've stayed at this hostel for over ten days now, four times in total. Each time I've been happy because of their free baby formula. But the fourth time, in June 2026, I noticed they've stopped offering it, which is a bit of a disappointment. I probably won't choose this hostel again next time I'm in Christchurch. I'll choose a hotel that offers free baby formula and has cleaner bathrooms. There's a food street nearby, and it's about a ten-minute walk from the bus station and the only supermarket, FreshChoice. It's a bit far, but not too far. It has two floors, no elevator, and the kitchen is on the second floor. The kitchen is quite large, and the bed is okay to sleep in. The bathroom on the second floor is very small and narrow. To be honest, it doesn't feel very hygienic. Because there are so few toilets (I only saw two on the second floor), I often saw urine spilled outside the toilet bowl, which was very dirty and inconvenient. Also, at 1.5 meters tall and weighing 90 pounds, I have difficulty turning around in the bathroom; I always feel like my clothes will get dirty. It's too small. The lounge on the first floor is quite spacious, and the restrooms there are much cleaner. However, for residents living on the second floor, the second floor is closer to the toilets, so they have to walk around to get there. Plus, it gets quite cold in winter. Hair dryers were only found in the first-floor bathroom.
Parking is available in front (free from 6:00 pm to 7:59 am). There is a kitchen, refrigerator, and cooking utensils. Laundry can be done at the counter for $12 per wash. Several large supermarkets are nearby, making it a very convenient location.
Great hostel, facilities are top notch for a hostel, showers great and rooms/beds comfortable
Good one. Nice and skilled staff, comfy and tidy beds, and big and well-equipped common spaces (lots of stovetops, couches and tables)
