Qtopia

Qtopia is the flagship LGBTQIA+ organisation for Otautahi Christchurch and the wider South Island, Te Waipounamu. A community-led charity, it provides advocacy, social change work, peer support, youth groups, healthcare navigation and whanau support for rainbow people across the region. It is one of the most important pillars of Christchurch's queer community, filling much of the community-infrastructure role in a city that no longer has a dedicated gay bar. Qtopia runs regular social and support groups and is a central point of contact for LGBTQIA+ residents and visitors looking to connect locally. It operates on a contact and referral basis rather than a public drop-in venue, and can be reached through qtopia.org.nz.
