Art Deco Masonic Hotel

What a lovely hotel! Room was charming, staff friendly and location was perfect spot to explore the numerous examples of Art Deco architecture, the unusual black rock beach and the Hawke's Bay Museum.

My partner and I celebrated our anniversary in the Anna Pavlova Suite, and it exceeded all of our expectations. The suite was absolutely stunning. The Art Deco design was beautifully authentic and made the whole experience feel so special. Every detail added to the charm and really immersed us in Napier’s unique Art Deco heritage. From the moment we arrived, all of the staff were incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming. Their genuine hospitality made our stay even more memorable. The location couldn’t be better. Right in the heart of Napier and just a short walk to the waterfront, the Soundshell, fantastic restaurants, cafés, and local attractions. We also enjoyed stopping into The Rose Irish Pub downstairs for a drink after checking in, which was a great way to start our stay. If you’re visiting Napier and want to experience its rich Art Deco history while enjoying exceptional accommodation and service, I can’t recommend The Masonic highly enough. We’ll definitely be back!

We had such a fabulous time staying here! The rooms are so comfortable and well furnished, with nice tasteful decorations that manage to keep the art deco style while still feeling fresh and new. *****AVOID****** Dated attitude by simple-minded small town hotel management. Back in NZ for 3 months and we were working remotely in an empty lounge room here 10am-4pm on our online villa rental platform…until management complained and asked us to vacate.

This has to be the best hotel art deco in (New Zealand) Napier to set your mind back to the good old days. It even reminds me of Raffles Hotel in Singapore in the sense of the lost old times hotel comforts, huge open balonies and relaxation areas. I would travel back to New Zealand again just to be able to stay in this hotel for a few weeks and indulge in the old traditional rooms/suits with its comforts and old style ambience. Stayed with wife and two kids.Huge balconies attached, deep cast iron bath in 2 bed apartment style room. Even has cloth washer and dryer. Huge living room and main bedroom. To top it off, it even has The Rose Irish pub attached. Good food, friendly staff. Got to be the best kept secret in New Zealand. Got to love the black pebble beach just across the road. Photos galore. Brilliant!

A wonderful 2 night stay at the hotel. Stylish room with an art deco vibe. Very helpful staff at check in and in the bars and restaurants. Easy access to shopping, cafes and restaurants. Will stay again.

Great hotel in a fantastic location. Check in staff were fantastic and very helpful. Room was more spacious than I expected - my brother and I shared a room and there was plenty of room for us both. We had an art deco studio with street views. Decor of the hotel is fantastic - love all the color and design. We got an amazing deal and it's well worth ringing and booking direct as they will match any prices and tell you about any specific deals. I would definitely stay again.

We recently enjoyed a three night stay in the Jean Batten Suite. The suite was very comfortable with a sitting room giving direct access to the balcony. The bedroom was tastefully furnished and the bed, very comfortable. It was a treat to have two separate bathrooms so not crowding each other when getting ready to go out! I made good use of the soaking bath. All staff were courteous and helpful. We enjoyed meals in the restaurant and pub, and it was very helpful to have an onsite guest laundry. I happily recommend this hotel, and would certainly stay again when next in Napier.

The building itself feels a little old, but the interior is well-maintained and comfortable. The only minor issue was that the lock was a little difficult to open, but otherwise, there were no inconveniences. The female staff at reception were very friendly and made my stay very pleasant. Note that toothbrushes are not provided, so I recommend bringing your own. Above all, the location is fantastic and very convenient. I would like to use it again if I have the opportunity.

Must do experience in Napier! Worth every penny!

A beautiful old hotel in the heart of downtown Napier. The rooms are on the smaller side, but had everything we needed for the weekend stay. The staff were welcoming and you can’t ask for a better location for seeing all that Napier has to offer. Look forward to returning next time our travels bring us back to the area.

We just had 2 wonderful nights in the Mark Twain suite. The hotel is in a great location and the staff are friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend a stay there.
