DJ Station

DJ Station opened at 8 Silom Soi 2 in 1989 as Bangkok's first dedicated gay dance club. It is Southeast Asia's longest-running gay dance club — 36 years of continuous operation — and the anchor venue of the Silom Soi 2 dance strip that runs parallel to Silom Soi 4's bar strip 100 metres east. The club runs three floors: a ground-floor bar and stage that hosts the nightly midnight drag show (the longest continuously programmed drag show in Asia), a second-floor main dance floor, and a third-floor mixed lounge. Its programming has consistently combined international pop and dance floor music with an emphasis on Thai and Cantopop that gives the venue a specific regional identity distinct from Bangkok's more international-facing clubs. DJ Station's significance to Southeast Asian gay nightlife is largely defined by the drag show. The midnight lineup — six performers, roughly 25 minutes, no cover for the show though drinks are required — has run every night without interruption since 1994 and made DJ Station's specific style of Thai-language drag a regional standard. Performers have included some of Thailand's most-cited drag artists, including Jaja Nezz and Petchara. Open daily from 22:00 to 02:00. Cover 300 baht including one drink. Sala Daeng BTS is five minutes' walk. Peak crowd Fridays and Saturdays from midnight. This is the standard Bangkok gay-nightlife stop — combine with a walk to Telephone Pub, the Balcony and Stranger on the neighbouring Silom Soi 4 for a full circuit.
