Tirana Pride
About This Event
Tirana Pride is Albania's main LGBTIQ+ march, held each May as part of the Festival of Diversity around IDAHOT on 17 May. It started tiny. In May 2012 a handful of activists, nine or twelve depending on who tells it, rode rental bikes down the Boulevard of Martyrs in heavy rain while young men threw homemade explosives at them. The bike ride became an annual event, and by 2015 it drew hundreds.
Today it's a walking march through central Tirana, co-organised by PINK Embassy, the LGBT Alliance, Pro LGBT, OMSA and Streha, with Council of Europe support and a police escort.
The 2026 march, part of the 17th Festival of Diversity, took place on 23 May under the slogan "Together for the Family". Speeches answered a year of disinformation that followed the gender equality law, and activist Livia Zotrija pressed the health minister over a delayed healthcare protocol for trans people. No incidents were reported, and we found no attendance figure. The 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked.

Practical Tips
Tirana Pride runs as a bike parade through the boulevard rather than a walking march — bring or rent a bike from a downtown shop.
