Hofgarten

The Hofgarten — the large historic public park behind the Hofburg palace on Rennweg, at the edge of Innsbruck's Old Town — is the city's long-established gay cruising ground. Alongside its daytime role as a much-loved green space with old trees, a pond and a pavilion, its quieter and more secluded corners have for years been a discreet meeting point for gay and bisexual men, mainly after dark in the warmer months. Austria is one of Europe's most LGBTQ-friendly countries and the park is central and generally tolerated, but as with any public cruising area be discreet, respect other park users and stay aware of your surroundings; activity is seasonal and dies down in winter and bad weather. It sits within a few minutes' walk of the Altstadt and of HOSI Tirol.
