About this place Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach Resort & Spa

Located on the Adriatic coast in Rijeka, Croatia, this beachfront resort combines upscale accommodation with spa facilities and gay sauna services. It's positioned as a destination for travellers seeking both relaxation and social space within a full-service hotel environment. The property offers the convenience of an all-in-one venue where you can enjoy beach access, wellness treatments, and dedicated LGBTQ+ facilities without needing to venture far from your accommodation. As a gay sauna integrated into a larger resort property, this venue caters to guests looking for a more refined sauna experience compared to traditional bathhouses. You'll find the typical amenities associated with modern saunas, set within the context of a luxury hotel brand. The beachfront location means you can take advantage of the Adriatic setting, with opportunities to enjoy both indoor wellness facilities and outdoor coastal space. Rijeka's LGBTQ+ scene is modest but welcoming, and this resort serves as a notable hub for gay travellers in the region. Very good hotel. Sadly we could only stay for one night due to travel but I hope to come back soon.

Beautiful hotel in a quiet location with its own pebble beach right next to the hotel. The lobby, beach, spa, and rooms are all truly lovely. The view is stunning. The pebble beach is clean and the water crystal clear. We had a villa right by the sea, unfortunately without direct beach access. This is a minor drawback, as it requires a longer walk. Parking isn't free and at €25 per day, it's not exactly cheap. The hotel could be more accommodating and offer free parking. The staff is friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The breakfast is varied and sufficient for a few days. The beautiful town of Opatija is nearby, just a few minutes away by car, though the walk is a bit long. Rijeka is also not far away. Those who prefer industrial areas will find plenty to explore in Rijeka. Opatija, on the other hand, is more romantic, charming, and a truly architecturally beautiful town. Anyone wanting to see both should first visit Rijeka, stroll along the promenade, explore the harbor and the Torpedo building, and then head to Opatija the next day. The island of Krk is also not far away. The area's infrastructure isn't adequate for cycling to these destinations. While it's doable, I wouldn't recommend it, especially with children. You often have to cycle along the main road, and there are no dedicated bike paths. A car is definitely the better option. However, there are plenty of parking spaces, so theoretically, you could bring your bikes and cycle along Opatija's 12-kilometer coastline. But be aware that there are narrow sections with lots of pedestrians. Walking, though, is absolutely stunning and highly recommended. The hotel offers a wide variety of dining options, at least in terms of the selection of restaurants; I can't comment on the rest. Depending on the season, not all restaurants are open. The Neapolitan pizza at the pizzeria on the beach is delicious, even though it's not baked in a wood-fired oven. The Neapolitan pizza at the pizzeria on the beach is very tasty, although it's not wood-fired. However, the scenery is absolutely beautiful on foot and highly recommended. Dogs are very welcome and encouraged to stay throughout the entire hotel (with very few exceptions – the spa, for example). There's even a dedicated dog beach right next to the hotel. It's not isolated or far away. At breakfast, care is taken to ensure that hotel guests aren't disturbed by their four-legged companions. There are shaded seating areas outside, or a slightly separated space is created indoors. There are also few restrictions for people with disabilities. The hotel premises and the beach are easily accessible by wheelchair via two central elevators. There's even a seat for getting into the water. It's really fantastic; I haven't seen that anywhere else. One minor point of criticism: at 5:30 a.m. on the day of our departure, the water in the showers simply wasn't warm. That wasn't very pleasant. Nevertheless, considering the points mentioned above, I consider my stay at the Hilton to have been truly enjoyable and successful.
