About this place Booksa

Booksa is Zagreb's most famous literary café — a combined bookshop, café, and cultural venue on Martićeva Street in the Gornji Grad neighbourhood that has become one of the most important gathering places for the city's cultural and progressive community. While not an exclusively gay venue, Booksa has long been a welcoming space for Zagreb's LGBTQ+ community, artists, writers, and international visitors, and its programme of readings, film screenings, debates, and cultural events has made it a fixture on the Queer Zagreb festival calendar. The café's atmosphere is warm, intellectual, and deliberately inclusive — the specific character of a venue that defines itself by its cultural values rather than its demographics. For LGBTQ+ travellers to Zagreb who want to experience the city's progressive cultural life alongside its nightlife, Booksa is an essential stop.

Jovial people. Great for spending a lot of time on the laptop. They have a good range of teas and will recommend something.

As soon as we walked in we saw a bunch of people typing away on their laptops with comfy trendy chairs welcoming us in. A small window housed the helpful barista. She let us know that this wasn't just a cafe... You needed a membership to order a coffee. She was most helpful and served us a decent coffee, but we felt like we couldn't talk for fear of disturbing the people around us trying to get work done. Cozy place. Come for a coffee, pay a membership to help the local arts scene, maybe read a book or two.

This is a real book club! You can come there, read, work, chat, inform yourself on anything important that happens in cultural life of the city or stumble upon some of their book presentations. There is a nice archive of local independent culture scene which is very lively and internationally renowned. Don't miss to meet the activists which are running the place - they work hard, but also enjoy chatting.

This cafe is both hipster and trendy place. Coffee was fine, they have free WiFi and shelves full of books. What I don't like about it's the atmosphere of the place and the people who are quite awkward and I felt unpleasant.

A very charming cafe/bookstore/club that has live music many nights (performers are usually aspiring young singers/bands), it has a charming atmosphere, with every seat different from the other, people just sitting, sipping coffee and reading a good book, or listening to young singers perform...

Sorry to say, but I was so disappointed with the service, they were so very arogant and rude, I will never return there.
