About this place Le Gayot

Le Gayot is the social anchor of the Strasbourg gay scene, located in the Krutenau neighbourhood a short walk south of the cathedral. Its name is a playful Alsatian pun, and its atmosphere lives up to the wordplay: easy-going, friendly and self-aware. The bar occupies a ground-floor space with a long bar counter, wood-panelled walls and a street-side terrace that fills quickly on warm evenings. The crowd reflects Strasbourg's unique position as a European capital — locals, French and German students, and civil servants from the European institutions mix naturally. The bar's events programme includes quiz nights, drag evenings and regular Pride community meetings.

Great experience at this bar! The terrace was clean and sunny, and the service was equally excellent! I recommend it.

My experience at Gayot was absolutely perfect! Between the waitresses Nelva, Charlotte, and Éloïse, who were incredibly professional and welcoming, and the bartender Alex, who was also excellent, I can't find a single thing to criticize about the evening. I highly recommend it!

Stopped off for a drink and the square has a lovely atmosphere. The waitress was very friendly and showed us the qr code to see the menu. You can bring your own food. Service and location make this a great stop to watch people.

We sat for 30 minutes without any waiter coming to take our order, even though we approached the entrance before sitting down and there weren't many people there. So we left.

The service is utterly deplorable and quite amateurish. There are long waits, and above all, the impression that no one truly cares about the customers. It feels as though the establishment is simply taking advantage of its prime tourist location to operate, without any real commitment to quality. Admittedly, the location is pleasant, but that's not enough to compensate for the rest. My advice: avoid this place; there are certainly better options elsewhere.
